Bonnie Paine is Tim Paine’s spouse and says the sexting scandal helped their marriage, even though it was hard for her to accept his treachery.
Cricket Australia discreetly investigated the case and found no wrongdoing. In 2018, the father-of-2 was cleared by Cricket Australia. He admitted to Bonnie that he had sex with Cricket Tasmania’s female staffer over 18 hours.
Bonnie stated that she had a lot of anger, frustration and upset in the past but resolved to put it behind her in 2018. Their marriage is stronger for having done so.
“I feel a little sympathy for Tim right now. Actually, a lot. All of it was done privately by him and me in 2018. The Daily Telegraph reported that the experience was both terrible and difficult at times.

Strangely enough, it actually made our relationship stronger.
Since mid-2018 when the complaint was filed by the other party, embarrassing sexts has been hovering over the couple.
Paine admitted that he had known media agencies had copies of the exchange, and was questioned about the matter for several years prior to the information being made public on Friday afternoon.

It was put to bed many years ago. She said that she felt angry at Tim for having a child who was not too old.
Bonnie and Paine were at a difficult point in their marriage when the sexting scandal broke out. Their daughter Milla had just given birth to Charlie, and their father was also recently deceased.
Bonnie said it was difficult, even though they were on solid ground.
She has ‘huge admiration’ for the way Paine handled the incident, confessing to the messages the day he learned a complaint had been filed – which was still months after the incident occurred on November 22 and 23, 2017, the eve and morning of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba in Brisbane.
It was huge for both of us that you told me. Paine was surprised to learn that you kept so much information private before this interview. “Weirdly this has actually helped us in our relationship.

After mid-2018, a complaint by one party about the sexts was filed.
Paine is aware that he’ll face scrutiny in the future, but he worries about his fellow fans and colleagues.
As he prepares for his next move, he has decided to go into hiding. However, he promised that he will be available for Ashes next month.
Paine will not be leading his team but says that he is still a valuable member of the team.
Shane Warne, a former great Shane Warne stated on Sunday that Paine was no longer in the test team and therefore he would not be considered for the Ashes team.
Warne stated that Paine was “on unstable ground” even before the news about the sexting scandal broke Friday, after a disappointing performance on the latest series.
He said that there was an overwhelming demand to know if Tim Paine was the right choice for the Test team.
‘He had his moments during recent series — especially last summer against India — which left us all questioning his tactical nous and his actual playing role… His time seemed to be up.
‘His own performances with the gloves and bat weren’t great, we have Matthew Wade, Alex Carey and Josh Inglis as more aggressive and better batting options at number seven. Plus the team wasn’t winning.’

Bonnie has made a vow to keep her man close to her heart and is disappointed that texts about Bonnie were revealed to the public.
Paine, who announced his resignation on Friday as captain, made a statement and then held a press conference at 2.30pm Friday. There he wept and apologized.

Paine, who was suspended along with Cameron Bancroft as opener, was made the Australian Cricket’s savior after vice-captain David Warner and captain Steve Smith were both expelled.
According to Cricket Australia, the message was discovered by Paine shortly after Paine became the Australian captain. This comes after another scandal in which Steve Smith had to resign after a ball-tampering accident while touring South Africa.
Paine stated that he doesn’t want scandals to ruin the team on Friday.
I believe it is the right time to stand down from my position as captain. It is not my intention for this to be a disruptive factor to the team during what will be a major Ashes series.
“I’ve loved my role …’,” he stated, his voice cracked as he wept away a tear.
‘It’s been the most honor of my sporting career to lead the Australian men’s team for testing. It’s been an honor to work with my team and I am grateful.
“To them, they ask for understanding and their forgiveness. Australian cricket fans, I am deeply sorry for my behavior on the Ashes.
I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by my actions to the cricket community and fans. It breaks my heart that I have let down my family. They are a loving, supportive, and wonderful family.
“They have stood beside me always, were my loyal fans and I’m deeply grateful to them for all their support.”

He said that he was exonerated but regretted the incident and does so today.
“We felt that the incident was over and that we could concentrate on the team like I had done the last three- or four years.
Reflection: My actions for 2017 aren’t up to standard as a cricket captain in Australia or within the larger community.
“I deeply regret the pain, hurt, and distress that I have caused my wife, my family, as well as the other person. He apologized for any harm this caused to our sport’s reputation.
