Tony Blair has called vaccine rejectniks ‘irresponsible idiots.’ He asked for the country’s attention and to persuade these people to take up their cause.
Former Prime Minister, David Cameron, highlighted concern over the spread of Omicron, stating that Britons would ‘get it (Covid),’ which could strain the NHS.
He said, however that the public had been through enough and that the “blunt instrument” of a lockdown would not be as effective as the government may want.
Mr Blair, whose New Labour premiership lasted from 1997-2007, told Times Radio that ‘persuading’ people to get the vaccine was ‘in their own interest, never mind the public interest’.
He stated, “Frankly, even if you are not currently vaccinated and you have no medical reasons, it is not irresponsible to not be vaccinated.” Your stupidity is a sign of weakness.

“I am sorry. You are. The Omicron variant can be contagious. If you aren’t vaccinated or you’re already in the public, it’s likely that you will get it.
“And that’s exactly what will put a lot strain on the healthcare system. It is important to know that nearly half the ICU residents aren’t vaccinated.
“We should not target unvaccinated people in a disproportionate manner, but instead we should go after them and convince them.
NHS England data shows that as of December 21, 1,904 Londoners were hospitalized with Covid-19. That is 41% more than a week ago.
But Mr Blair said that he would not have brought in restrictions this Christmas because of the ‘pain’ of a full lockdown, while also suggesting that the current Government’s strategy is a ‘gamble’, after Boris Johnson confirmed no new rules be brought in before Christmas.
The self-isolation time for coronavirus patients who are fully vaccinated has been reduced to one week by Mr Johnson’s government. This will allow more people to be with their loved ones during Christmas.

Blair’s New Labour Premiership ran from 1997 through 2007. Times Radio reported that Blair said convincing people to get the vaccine was not in the public’s best interests, but rather their personal interest.
Anyone in England with negative lateral flow results for day 6 or 7 of their self isolation period will not have to isolate the entire 10 days.
6902 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in England on December 21. It was the largest number of such admissions since November 10, with an average of 7% per week.
On Wednesday, Covid restrictions in Wales will be increased as the Welsh Government meets for discussions on hospitality measures.
The Northern Ireland executive also will determine on that day the ‘levels of asks’ to be made by the public to stop the surge in Covid-19.
According to Nicola Sturgeon, the new Covid-19 restrictions will mean that Scotland’s Hogmanay festivities will be cancelled. Live sports will also be ‘effectively spectator free’ starting on Boxing Day.
Also, The First Minister introduced some new rules on hospitality. He urged everyone to stay home for as long as they can until the beginning of January.
