Residents were left barricaded by travelers who abandoned their houses. They left behind a broken-down car, Christmas trees and trash after leaving the area.

They caused chaos after they blockaded a road and prevented locals from accessing or leaving their property on the housing estate of Worcester.

After moving on to the location of an abandoned factory, they locked a gate on December 16 and parked on grass verges.

Locals were reporting being verbally and physically abused as well as having items thrown at them, fighting breaking out around their homes, and that Riot Police had been called.

The racers also made a nuisance by speeding cars along the streets, while residents saw their vehicles being ‘dumped’ right in front of them.

They arrived with 20 caravans in Worcester on December 16, and established camp at the old Lotus Lightweight Structures site.

The newcomers erected a metal barrier across the only way in or out of the nearby housing estate and parked their vehicles on grass verges, blocking locals from leaving or entering

Newcomers built a barrier of metal across the entrance to and exit from the adjacent housing development. They also parked their vehicles along grass verges that prevented locals leaving.

A neighbor said that all windows had been broken, including the newer ones. All the doors were smashed except for a few metal shutters.

“I saw one traveller open mains electricity transformers to get scrap metal. A car was left behind at the factory’s back, while large numbers of cables were also removed.

A resident who didn’t want to be identified said the locals had worried about their safety because 20 caravans had entered the carpark during the Christmas holiday period.

He stated that many people have lost their Christmas because of such people. Some people have cancelled their family members and friends’ visits and won’t let us leave our homes.

“We only have one route in, one out and it’s through this spot. Before opening the public roads, the responding officers had to wait until the riot police arrived. What do local residents think?

“The police had opened the gates, and they were again locked. The order was ignored by the travellers. What is the point of allowing them to do this?

“Law-abiding citizens are left to suffer and put up with it,” he said. Police have the power and authority to make them move on, but they fear too much.

Angrily angry neighbours claimed that they were kept awake by loud chainsaws, bonfires at midnight and other antisocial behavior.

The second trip was for a couple of months and they called for more security.

An earlier resident stated that they were destroying the factory, and had already lit two fires. Neighbors are furious that no action is taken.

They have used power tools in the warehouse until midnight and started lighting fires at the site. Although we have seen more police officers in the past two days than any other time, there seems to be nothing that they can do.

“The neighbor have filed about 15 complaints about the current situation to the police. It needs to be more secured.

“They just cleaned up the mess from their last visit. The security guard or new gate and measure measures must be in place.
