Haunting last messages posted to Twitter in the days ahead of Ian Alexander Jr.’s death reveal Regina King’s only child felt he was ‘losing his s**t.’

‘You know that episode of SpongeBob where they go inside his brain and it’s a bunch of mini spongebobs just losing their s**t…..yea that one really hits home,’ Ian tweeted five days before his took his life.

The DJ – who performed under the stage name desduné – added, in a separate message: ‘I don’t think instagram is healthy for me.’  

The last Instagram post by Ian, three days earlier, was much more positive than his previous one and promoted his show. He predicted that his career was going to “blow up.”

“It’s been a while, but we now jump off. Don’t you want to say you supported desduné before the blowup??’ He wrote. 

Ian committed suicide on January 19, his 26th birthday. There are no further details.

Five days before his death, Ian took to Twitter comparing his mental state to that of seemingly distressed cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants

Ian, five days before his untimely death, took to Twitter to compare his mental state with that of the cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants.

King’s spokesman confirmed her son’s death in a statement Saturday reading: ‘Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian.’

“He was such an amazing light and cared deeply for the happiness of other people. This private moment is for our family. We ask that you show respect. 

Ian was an artist and DJ who performed under the stage name desduné. He had an upcoming show in Los Angeles on Friday and promoted it on Instagram four days prior. 

Flaunt Magazine revealed that 26-year-old chef was also a famous celebrity chef. He stated to Flaunt Magazine in May last year that he wanted to open his restaurant within the next three-years. 

King (51), shared Ian with Ian Alexander Sr., her ex-husband. They divorced after 10 years of marriage. The actress and her son are said to have been incredibly close with him often accompanying her to red carpet events.

Ian also released an announcement about his next shows. The new single, “Green Eyes,” is out January 7.  

King posted a clip from the song on Instagram last week, asking her followers to listen.

‘Now listening to “Green Eyes,”’ the actress wrote. ‘Desduné said he’d quit smoking if he gets a million streams….Maaaan Listen…I got this jam on repeat!’ 

King had a strong bond with her son, who often went along her to events. She called her “super mom” at the 2019 Golden Globes.

“She never lets bad work or any other circumstances ruin what little time we do have. It is truly amazing to be able to spend time with a mom I love. 

Ian, after nine years of marriage to the If Beale Street Could Talk star, divorced her father in 2007. 

Both of them had Aramaic tattoos that said “unconditional love” in Aramaic.

In 2011, Regina spoke with Essence and revealed how much she adored Ian.

She stated, “I get emotional because of my son’s amazing young men. And it took me becoming a mom to understand how remarkable of a woman she (my mum) was.” 

She went on saying, ‘You don’t know what unconditional love is. You may say you do, but if you don’t have a child, you don’t know what that is…

“But it’s the best feeling ever when you actually experience it.” That is what I love most about myself. Ian is my mom.

Ian also shared an adorable message on Instagram for Regina’s 50th Birthday last year: “Happy birthday my co. So extremely proud of you, inspired by your love and artistry and gangsta…

“The ability to witness you grab this lifetime and make it yours was something I will never forget.”

He said, “But to be able to call you my mother is the greatest gift that I could have asked for.” It is amazing to have the ability to give unconditional love and support while being all you can be.

In 2017 King revealed on an episode of The View that the two share matching tattoos.

She replied, “We were attending Kabbalah classes. He replied, “Let’s pick three.” [designs] each and not tell each other which ones they are and whichever one is matching, that’s the one we’re going to get tattooed — and we both chose unconditional love’.

In Netflix’s 2019 Seven Seconds series, the actress played a grieving mother after losing a child. She also spoke candidly about how she was prepared for this role.

@ReginaKing, my deepest condolences. Sherrilyn Forill, the president and chief counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund wrote on Twitter that she was sending her condolences and all the support and warmth she had extended to me and others.

King directed One Night in Miami, and has appeared in many films. He was the winner of two NAACP Image Awards.
