Two ‘death wish” workers climbed ladders while they were repairing a church roof. They were perched on the bucket of their cherry pickers.
The footage was captured in Tralee, County Kerry, on December 11 and shows St John’s Parish Church after it was damaged by Storm Barra.
This is a nail-biting clip of a workman (believed to be a steeplejack) straddling two ladders, which were raised up to roof height by a cherry picker.

He can be seen with his colleague in a high-vis jacket standing at the bottom of the ladders, and looking on.
When the men started to fix the building, they placed the ladders against its pitched roof which measures around 200ft.
As he is working, the man at the top of the ladder does not seem to be wearing any type of safety gear, such as hard hats.
You can hear the filming person saying, “Oh my god”, as they look on with horror.
The man reached over and began fixing another section of the roof. He lean heavily on the ladders while his left leg hovered above the other.

This clip was met with mixed reactions online. Some viewers joked about the dangers of workers, while others mocked them for being negligent.
Reddit’s December 13th, 2013 video was shared by a shocked viewer who wrote: “My God! This man has a death wish!”
One Reddit user commented: ‘That’s a very serious incident if he fell off and died. Another fella could be taken to court and possibly even jail.
Another one said that if he doesn’t pay attention, the ladder would be his…stairway to heaven.
Jimmy Briens Bar also shared a clip of the scenes on Facebook, writing: ‘They won’t have far to go for the funeral.’

A spokesperson for St John’s Parish Church declined to comment on the footage and public reaction.
Last week Storm Barra caused chaos in Ireland, leaving around 30,000 households without power due to severe arctic winds and rain.
Some parts of the southern and western Ireland saw winds up to 80 mph.
