Two teenage boys were taken into custody in Manchester during an investigation into Malik Faisal Akram’s attack on a Texas synagogue. The teens have been released and are not being charged

Tonight, two teenagers were released from Manchester after being arrested as part of an investigation into Malik Faisal Akram’s terrorist attack at a synagogue here in the United States.

Blackburn terrorist, 44 years old, was gunned down in Texas Saturday evening after he took four persons and a Rabbi hostage during a 10-hour siege.

On the next day, two South Manchester teenagers were taken into custody by Counter Terrorism Policing North West officers.

Tonight, police said that the youths, believed to be younger than 18, were released immediately without charges.

Faiisal, 44-year-old from Blackburn, was the gunman for the hostage situation in a Texas synagogue. 

Chiefs of police stated that they remain in contact with US authorities for support and continued to conduct a local probe. An address in North Manchester was searched.  

Counter Terrorism Policing North West Temporary Assistant Chief Constabulary Dominic Scally stated that CTP North West continues to aid in the US investigation. 

“Overnight, productive meetings have been held with American colleagues.

“As part of our investigations, we’re also collaborating with other forces. Lancashire Police are working closely with Blackburn communities to implement measures that provide reassurance.”
