After Levi Bellfield’s confession to the murders of Lin Russel and Megan Russel with a hammer, two new witnesses were brought forward. One claimed she witnessed him leave the Chillenden scene 26 years ago.
A four-page, heartbreaking statement that was revealed this week by the serial killer, revealed the confession to murder. The statement also included chilling details regarding the attack in 1996.
Lin (45), her daughters Megan, nine-year old, and Josie, nine-years-old, and their dog Lucy were all tied up with a hammer and brutally beat in this vicious attack.
Only Josie survived, sustaining horrific injuries. The nation was stunned by the deaths in the idyllic village.
Michael Stone, 61, is currently serving three life sentences after twice being convicted of the Russell murders. He always maintained his innocence.

After Levi Bellfield’s confession to Megan Russel’s brutal hammer murders, two new witnesses were able to come forward. One claimed she witnessed him leave the Chillenden scene 26 years ago.

Paul Bacon represents Michael Stone (pictured), a man serving three life sentences in prison for his murders. He has requested that a “vital witness” be brought forward immediately
Bellfield’s 53-year-old statement suggests that Stone might have been misrepresented in court. This is currently being investigated.
A new witness, described as “highly credible” by The Sun, has spoken out to claim that she saw Bellfield shortly after Lins and Megan were killed.
According to the confession of serial killer, he also wrote that he had seen a woman driving off from Cherry Garden Lane in his beige Ford Sierra.
He wrote that he left Cherry Garden Lane after a long drive. Then he went on to another road, where he pulled in front of the woman.
“I looked in her rear-view mirror, looking at her, while simultaneously checking for any blood on my face.
According to The Sun the witness recognized Bellfield two years back from news reports and then picked him up in a virtual identification parade.
Bellfield is serving a life sentence currently for murdering Millie Dowler.
He has also been convicted of murdering Marsha McDonnell and Amélie Delagrange and the attempted murder of Kate Sheedy, and will never be considered for parole.
The document, seen by The Sun, went into appalling detailing about how Bellfield brutally attacked the family and even killed the family dog after it bit him.

Lin Russell (45), her daughters Megan, 6 years old, and Josie, 9 years old, were bound up with a chain and brutally beat with a hammer during the vicious attack of 1996.
He even offered to show pictures of the crime scene, showing the location he had left Lin’s bodies and Lin’s daughter.
Bellfield stated that he had a pair of gloves made from marigold and the hammer in the right hand, as he stopped Russell families along a road.
Although he claimed that he intended to attack Lin, a quick change occurred when he heard the screaming, which were likely from Megan or Josie Russell.
In the 14th paragraph, he describes in detail how he drove Russell onto a track and killed them before driving back home to Twickenham to finish his workday.
According to him, he claimed that he had thrown the hammer used for the attack into the Thames at Walton in Surrey the next day.
The publication reports that Bellfield made the statement to solicitor Paul Bacon, who represents Michael Stone.
The statement ended by him stating that it was his first crime, and another person had been arrested for it. He then apologized to Stone and to the Russell families ‘for the heinous act’.

Michael Stone, a lawyer representing Mr. Stone (pictured), is currently in three life sentences. He was convicted of the murders Mrs. Russell and Megan Russell.
It is believed the document was sent to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) which has the power to investigate alleged miscarriages of justice.
On Monday, Stone’s sister called for an independent police force to probe the murders of Lin and Megan Russell following Bellfield’s ‘astonishing’ confession.
Barbara Stone claimed that Bellfield’s admission was ‘absolutely truthful’ and she will now prove her brother innocence.
She claimed that there had been a conflict between Kent Police and her. You must follow the legal procedure to ensure that it is done correctly.
Ms Stone stated that her brother supports her desire for another force to handle the case.
She said that Bellfield had provided many facts, which could be checked. This includes information on the murder weapons.
Ms Stone has tirelessly fought for her son’s freedom and said that he wouldn’t have confessed if his mother wasn’t still living. Bellfield’s chinwag is not the only thing at stake.
“Nobody will make a statement about such terrible crimes like this.
Bellfield was a man I believed for a while, but it never occurred to me that he would actually have the courage to give a statement that could be used in evidence.

Levi Bellfield currently serves life in prison after being convicted of the murders schoolgirl Milly Dowler.

Amelie Delarange, 22, whose body, with severe head injuries, was found on Twickenham Green in south West London, Thursday, August 19, 2004.

They are held for the rest of their lives in the exact same prison, HM Frankland.
“It was difficult for him to make that decision, I am sure. He may face a lot of consequences among his fellow prisoner.
“He described in detail his actions that day, including the execution of the crime and what he did using the implements.
“My heart is broken for the Russell family, which has endured so much pain to try and prove Mick innocence.
“I believe it’s in our best interests that this matter be investigated whenever there’s a real possibility of closure. Bellfield has done it in the right manner and willingly.
Jean, Jean’s beloved mother, was adamant that her son was innocent. Jean died in 2017 from a lung disease.
It was revealed that Stone’s lawyers believed that he could have his 14-year-old lost piece of evidence found by police last year.
It was a bootlace that was long and used for tying up one victim. Later, the killer left it behind and the detectives found it at the scene.
One small amount of the lace was examined for DNA. The tests were still very infancy and the results came back as inconclusive.
Since 2007, lawyers for Stone have advocated for testing the entire lace.
Police insist that the large portion of the lace is gone, despite it never being returned after forensic testing.
According to police, the lace had then been destroyed by 1998.
The Sun says: The larger section of lace was found at an alleged police station. The lace is reportedly being tested by the CCRC.

Also, he was convicted for the attempted murder 18-year old Kate Sheedy.

He previously confessed to being in Chillenden at the time the murders occurred.
However, his statement now provides additional details. He explains how he stopped by the M25 services in Surrey following the murders to clean off the blood.
Bellfield then relates how Bellfield went back to Twickenham and got ready to go to work as nightclub bouncer.
He said that the next day, he put the hammer to the Thames in Walton (Surrey).
Then he went to Turkey on vacation, and claims that he then returned to get the Ford Sierra beige he drove on the morning of the murders washed, because he was afraid it might have been contaminated with DNA.
Stone was sentenced to prison in 1998 for the murders Ms Russell committed and her child’s death.
But his police record goes back to 1971 at the age of 12 and continues into his adult life. He served three consecutive sentences in prison from 1980 through 1990.
Stone is a former convict for ABH, robbery and GBH. Stone also has a criminal record that includes burglary and robbery. Stone is known to have weapons.
In 1981, he was sentenced for hitting a man in the face with a stick during a bank robbery.
The attacker stabbed a friend in his sleep in 1983. He tried to inflict injury on a police officer after the attack.
Stone was sentenced to 10 year imprisonment and was sent back to prison for the second and third armed robberies that took place in Maidstone, Brighton and Brighton during the same week of 1986.
In 1993, three years after the Russells’ murders, he was released from prison.
