Tyson Fury made it onto the final list of nominations for the Sports Personality of the Years award. He threatened legal action should he be included by the BBC.

After defeating Deontay Wilder in October, Fury was named as a contender along with Emma Raducanu, a heavy favorite, and keeping his WBC World Heavyweight Title.

Fury, who had just defeated Wilder in the first round of the fight last year, asked for his removal from the final list. To everyone’s relief, the BBC denied Fury’s demands. However, the BBC did not vote for him in the top three.

Raducanu will now be challenging him for the prize, following Raducanu’s incredible win at the US Open back in September. Lewis Hamilton is not on the final list, as he was defeated to Formula One title by Max Verstappen.

Fury spoke to The Telegraph this month and stated that it meant nothing to her, and she doesn’t use it.

“In actuality, my solicitors will be contacting me if they put me onto the list. It should be given to someone who really needs it. You don’t. We know who the sports personality of the year is anyway – it’s me.

“Who is the one who does the same thing as me, has a Las Vegas war, entertains fans and sings to them?”

Raducanu (age 18) is the favorite to win after becoming the first Open-era qualifier to win Grand Slam.

Flushing Meadows was her first win, and she beat Leylah Fernandez to finish the incredible underdog story.

Only essential staff and contributors will be allowed at the venue. BBC stated that safety and health are our top priority.

“Following an announcement by the UK Government, new Coronavirus Measures are being introduced in England,” we have decided to not allow a studio audience to this year’s event.

Hamilton, beaten to the Formula One world title by Max Verstappen on Sunday, won the prize last year with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson finishing second and jockey Hollie Doyle taking third.

Current voting is available for the World Sport Star of the Year. It’s a prize that recognizes the achievements of the top international athletes in the previous 12 months.

Verstappen and Saul Canelo Alvarez are Mexican boxers. Rachael BLACKMORE, Rachael Blackmore from Ireland, Tom Brady of the NFL, Novak Djokovic (tennis player) and Elaine Thompson Herah, Jamaican sprinter, are all possible contenders.
