Mesmerising video footage has been released that shows the thrills in store on what is billed as ‘one of the most anticipated coasters in the world’ – Iron Gwazi.
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay announced that the roller coaster will be the 10th in the park’s lineup. It opened on March 11. It plunges from a height of 206ft (62m), and reaches speeds up to 76mph. Riders can enjoy a dozen airtimes, which include three inversions.
The clip includes a stomach-churning POV section of the immense drop – and shows the priceless reactions of riders as they anticipate it then hurtle downwards and around the track, which is more than 4,000ft long.

From a peak height of 206ft, the coaster descends a steep 91° drop to reach a speed of 76mph. There are a dozen airtime periods for riders, with three inversions.

Rocky Mountain Construction from Idaho made the Busch Gardens’ newest addition. It is an upgraded version of Gwazi (a 51mph wooden coaster) that was closed in 2015. The 2022 incarnation is a wood and steel crocodile-inspired hybrid coaster ‘combining the innovation of a steel coaster and the nostalgia of a wooden coaster’.
Busch Gardens released the following statement: “While Gwazi elements, the traditional wooden coaster are kept in the ride, new thrill components and an entirely different track layout elevate Iron Gwazi’s appeal to the next level.
This attraction can be enjoyed by all ages, with a minimum height requirement of 48 inches (4 feet 4 inches).

Rocky Mountain Construction from Idaho, has designed the new Busch Gardens addition. This hybrid coaster is wood-and-steel crocodile inspired.

Iron Gwazi will offer exclusive rides for Pass Members starting on February 13.
