Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was criticized around the globe and abandoned by his key allies, is about to be left behind.

On Thursday, Putin declared the invasion of Ukraine. This has sparked protests around the globe.

Putin is now unable to achieve a swift victory in Ukraine, which may be similar to Russia’s 2014 annexation and occupation of Crimea. This was after the Ukrainians defeated the invaders.

Moscow lost its long-term allies China and abstained on the UN Security Council Resolution condemning Russia’s illegal invasion in Ukraine. The resolution was seen by Western countries as a victory over Putin.

According to reports, several Chinese banks restrict financing for Russian-sourced raw materials out of concern about Western sanctions.

Turkey, Hungary, and other allies have turned against Putin.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that the Russian attack on Ukraine is a turning point.

It threatens the entire postwar order. Our duty is to help Ukraine defend itself against Vladimir Putin’s invasive army.

“Germany is close to Ukraine’s side.”

The Russian government is expected to agree with Canada, USA, and UK on the necessity to stop Russia using Swift, the banking system that more than 11,000 banks use for payments.

This is a step that Kyiv had insisted upon for weeks in order to stop Russia’s economic growth and end its invasion of Ukraine.

The United Kingdom and many other countries have imposed sanctions against Russia but they are often criticized for not being too severe.

Swift’s removal from Russian banks would stop millions of deals being processed by traditional systems like fax, telephone or bank-to-bank transfer.

Iran is the country that was expelled from Swift. It lost 30% of its export trade due to it.

Russia faced expulsion from Swift following its 2014 annexation of Crimea. Dmitry Medvedev (then-Prime Minister) of Russia stated that Russia would interpret the act as declaring war.

A former Russian finance minister claimed that Russia’s GDP would drop by five percentage points in a single fiscal year without Swift. Swift could have serious consequences for the country.

Putin was not only placed in an unlikely financial pariah position, but also hasn’t had the same success on battlefields as he would have liked.

Around 1,000 soldiers from Britain will be arriving in the following days to reinforce defenses against Russian invasions of Nato territories.

The announcement came after Jens Stoltenberg, secretary general of NATO, promised that more troops would be sent to Russia and Belarus along the east borders.

Ben Wallace, the Defence Secretary, stated that his goal was to end invasions of Nato members.

He declared: “Our armed forces will once more be called upon for the service of the Nation. And I salute all the courage and sense of duty that have been displayed by our personnel in support of NATO.
