Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington could be seen consoling Will Smith after he smacked presenter Chris Rock in the face in a shocking moment during the Oscars live broadcast on Sunday night. 

Rock joked about Smith’s hairstyle, referencing the film ‘G.I. Joe’. Jane” in which Demi Moore, actress, shaved the head.

Smith is afflicted by alopecia. However, the joke didn’t seem to go down well with Smith. 

Smith, who fifteen minutes later won best actor for King Richard, walked on stage and slapped Rock in what at first appeared to be a scripted joke, but the mood turned to shock moments later when Smith, back in his seat, shouted back, ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.’  

Smith was seen swearing at comedian because he made a joke about Smith’s wife sitting front row at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

During his acceptance speech, Smith revealed what Washington had told him during the commercial break: ‘ Be careful at your highest moment… that’s when the devil comes for you.’

Will Smith won the best actor award and was comforted by Denzel Washington, Tyler Perry, after hitting Chris Rock across the face during the Oscars.

This moment stunned the audience at Dolby Theatre and home viewers.

The show ran fairly well before that.

Laster, who was being consoled during a commercial break by Tyler Perry and Bradley Cooper as Smith tried to comfort him. 

Smith’s portrayal as Richard Williams (the determined father of tennis champions Venus & Serena Williams), won him his first Academy Award just moments after striking Rock on the stage.

Smith accepted the award and offered a sincere apology to Academy for his outburst. It is an amazing moment.

Smith seemed to be channeling his personality in his acceptance speech by apologizing for his outlandish actions a few minutes prior. 

Smith, who was visibly upset, said that Richard Williams was an ardent defender of his family. “In this season of my life, I feel overwhelmed at the calling that God has given me to fulfill.  

After Smith strode out on stage and slapped Rock, the comedian staggered and exclaimed ‘wow, Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me.’ 

Ramin Setoodeh (Vanity Fair executive editor), was tweeting live from the ceremony, said that someone who works for the Oscars told him that Rock was not interrupted by Smith at rehearsals yesterday. 

It was never supposed to occur. He said that the event was actually real.

Setoodeh was watching the action from inside the theatre and said Smith’s publicist spoke with him during a commercial break.
