The world will suffer from an asteroid strike, floods and droughts which devastate entire countries as well as mass starvation in the future, at least according to predictions by the 16th century French astrologer Nostradamus.

Nostradamus was said to have predicated the future in his book “Les Propheties”, published 1555. It contains 942 poetic quadrains.

Some believe that Nostradamus predicted the destruction caused by the global warming, asteroids and the rise in AI technology.

The ‘Prophet Of Doom’ was a French doctor and astrologist who was inspired both by the Bible and from his personal experiences with plague. His predictions were focused on sorrow and famine.

Nostradamus was first published in his book 400 years ago. His predictions remain popular today because they are open to interpretation.

MailOnline examines some predictions of Nostradamus for the future.

Global warming

In 1555, Nostradamus foresaw that climate change would cause sea-level rises that would “half cook” fish.

He said that eventually the human race would not be able to see rain in 40 years. When it does, “great floods” will strike, causing havoc across nations.

Nostradamus said: “Because the sun heats the ocean/ Euboea half-cooked the fishes/ The inhabitants will cut them/ When the biscuit fails Rhodes and Genoa.

Nostradamus wrote in another part of his book: “For forty years, the rainbow won’t be seen/ for forty years it’ll be visible every day/ The earth’s dryness will increase/ there’ll be huge floods when it’s seen.”

Astrologers seem to suggest that the world will be hit by devastating floods similar to those in Scripture within the next few years.

Already, the world has experienced more extreme heatwaves, flooding, and droughts over the past few years. In a shocking report, the United Nations warns that these natural disasters are likely to become more frequent.

The UN has warned that the Earth is likely to warm by 1.5C within the next 20 years — a decade earlier than previously expected.

Although scientists had predicted that temperatures would rise 1.5C over preindustrial levels by 2030-2052, they now think it will occur between 2038-2040.

The UN stated that global surface temperatures rose faster since 1970 than any 50-year span over the last 2,000 years. However, five of the most recent years were the hottest ever recorded, dating back to 1850.

Linda Mearns (co-author of the report), a senior climate scientist with US National Center for Atmospheric Research, stated that “It’s simply guaranteed that it will get worse.” ‘I don’t see any area that is safe… Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.’

This image shows the devastation caused in Germany by heavy flooding. It was taken at Bad Neuenahr/Ahrweiler, July 16, 2009.

This comes at a time when record heatwaves are raging in countries all over the globe, and could indicate that Nostradamus’s prediction of biblical flooding and boiling seas may be coming true.

After heavy rains in Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg hit the Netherlands, more than 180 people were killed.

Hot weather earlier this summer caused hundreds to die on the West Coast of Canada and the US. More than 300 people were also killed in floods that devastated Henan Province, China.

Asteroid strike

Nostradamus may also have in 1555 predicted that an asteroids strike will cause massive death on Earth.

The astronomer has not predicted when the strike of the “celestial stones” will take place, however he did predict that a “great fire” would be seen from the heavens.

Nostradamus said in one passage: “New, sudden, and impetuous rain/ Will stop two armies/ Celestial stones, fires make sea stony/ Seven deaths by sea and land.”

He also wrote: ‘A great fire will fall from the sky for three nights/ The cause will appear both stupefying and marvellous/ shortly afterwards there will be an earthquake.’

Nostradamus suggests that Earth could be hit with scores of asteroids. This will result in destruction and fire.

Nostradamus may also have predicated in 1555, that an asteroid strike would cause mass death. (file image).

Already, the world has had near misses with asteroids. In fact, an asteroid that was almost as long and narrowly missed Earth as a London bus earlier in this year.

NASA warned that big asteroid impacts could occur every 2,000 years. These could match Nostradmus’s forecasts.

NASA says the asteroid reached Earth at 12,000 miles, which is close to Earth than most geostationary satellites.

But there was no threat to Earth as the asteroid, dubbed 2021 GW4, passed at a safe distance and was small enough that it would have burned up in the atmosphere had it been closer.

It would be more than half of a mile for a rock to strike the Earth, according to US Space Agency.

Virtual Telescope scientists captured the image of the rock in space when it was approximately 180,000 miles distant from Earth. The object can be identified using the central arrow.

Any smaller amount could lead to local problems, particularly if it hits on the ground, but not a global emergency.

Asteroids are rock fragments from the formation and orbiting of the sun about 4.6 Billion years ago. Most commonly, they orbit between Mars and Jupiter.

Sometimes asteroids can have their orbits altered by the gravitational pull of other planets.

If this occurs, it could bring the planets in potential collision orbits with Earth or other stars. This includes the one that caused the death of the dinosaurs 65 millions years ago.

NASA reported that every 2000 years, a meteoroid roughly the same size as a football field hits Earth. This causes substantial damage to the surrounding area.

An object big enough to cause serious damage to Earth’s civilization only happens once in several million years. Evidence of such occurrences include impact craters that have been found on Earth, as well as other planet bodies.

“We think anything greater than 1 to 2 km (one-half mile is slightly more than one-half miles) could cause widespread effects. Toutatis is the largest potentially dangerous asteroid at 5.4 kilometers.

Inflation causes mass starvation

Nostradamus also foresaw a global famine that would result from inflation. Inflation causes prices to go up in an economy that is failing.

Nostradamus predicts that mass starvation and conflict will increase as more people battle for natural resources affected by climate change.

Nostradamus stated in one paragraph: “No monks or abbots will learn/ Honey will cost much more than candle wax/ Wheat prices so high that it is difficult for man to stir/ He must eat with his despair.”

Nostradamus may be suggesting that humanity will not learn. Prices will keep rising, so many will starve.

Inflation booms have been seen in countries around the globe due to political instability, coronavirus pandemic, and shortages of gasoline. Prices for food and energy are rising.

In less than twelve months, wholesale gas prices in Britain rose by 500% due to increased energy demand and lower gas exports from Russia.

In December, as Afghanistan’s prices rise after the Taliban take over, a man distributes bread to Afghan women in a Kabul bakery.

Also, the UK power grid was forced to use low winds to generate electricity earlier in this year.

Nostradamus foresaw that the price rises would cause the human race to be in despair. Some will even start to fight over food and water.

The UN’s climate chief has already warned that the world could fall into chaos if leaders don’t address climate change.

Patricia Espinosa is the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change executive secretary. She stated that if countries don’t reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, global security and stability can be at risk.

She warned of a dire future of anarchy and food insecurity due to the climate catastrophe.

“It would result in less food so there will be a food crisis. This would make people more vulnerable to terrorist and violent groups, as well as create a greater risk of being in terrible circumstances. Espinosa explained in October that this would create a lot of instability.

AI technology’s potential power

Nostradamus seems to have foreseen the rise in artificial intelligence nearly fifty years ago.

The technology has advanced to such an extent that it’s difficult to predict what future developments will occur in the next few decades. However, Nostradamus suggested that AI will make humans immortal through its rise.

He wrote, “The Moon in its full night over the highest mountain/ The new Sage with one brain sees it/ Invited to immortality by his disciples/ Looking to the south/ Body in the fire/ Hands in their bosoms.

These words may be taken to refer to AI technology and the possibility of ‘immortal disciples’ replacing humans.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company would launch a robot-like humanoid next year.

Musk claimed that the robot will measure around 5 feet 8 inches high and can handle everything, from grocery shopping to assembling cars with a wrench.

The automaton, he added, will address labour shortages and have ‘profound implications for the economy.’

Experts have warned about the dangers of too much reliance on technology.

Safety regulators in the USA opened an investigation into Tesla’s driver assistance system earlier this year after several accidents where Tesla cars collided with stationary fire trucks and police cars while being driven on autopilot.
