The Bronx Zoo saw a woman in a red dress and possibly with a blonde hairstyle, jumping into the Lion exhibit. She was wearing a leopard-print scarf and a red dress.
Cellphone footage from NBC NY shows the woman reaching out to the carnivore and offering two bouquets with roses. She then tells the cameraman, ‘I miss you so much.
Waves at the onlookers while she tells the Lion, “King,” that she loves him. You’re my reason for coming back. The big cat stares down at her as she dances and tosses $100 bills at her.
Staff at the Zoo were alerted by the spectators but when they got to the exhibit she was already gone.
This scene reminded me of an incident in 2019, when a woman entered the enclosure of the lion to taunt them.
One woman went to the Bronx Zoo’s lion’s Den and climbed in, throwing cash at one of the lions.
Red and perhaps a blonde hairstyle, the woman presented roses to the animal.
Witnesses report that she spoke to the lion and said, “King! I love you!” You’re my reason for coming back.
Bronx Zoo released a statement saying that the victim of the latest incident was located in an entirely different location than the lion and wasn’t in imminent danger.
The zoo stated that the woman was not allowed to enter the exhibit.
“The incident only lasted a few minutes, and the woman left when staff arrived at scene. This individual is being dealt with by the NYPD Substation. We are working closely together with them. Bronx Zoo will pursue prosecution of this person and others who break park safety regulations.
New York Police Department is investigating.
While the identity of the female with the lion Thursday is not known, one witness said to NBC NY she believed it was Myah Autry. She also trespassed on the enclosure’s 2019 site.
Autry (34 years old) was arrested for two counts criminal trespassing after entering the Lion exhibit on September 28 2019.
Her words were, “I fear no one.” There is no animal, human or other creature that I fear more than you. The lion was my friend and I did not fear the lion. So he came to see me. I said: Lion, we love you.
Since the incident in 2019, it does not seem that the fencing has been changed by the zoo.
Autry was caught on camera entering the lion’s den at the Bronx Zoo on September 28, 2019
She took photos of press photographers at her final court appearance before she disappeared for almost a year. Her arrest was made in October 2020
Autry uploaded photos of her shortly before breaking into the Lion’s Den.
Autry was taken into custody and appeared in court the next November. However, she fled after failing to appear at her December hearings.
During her last court appearance, Autry interrupted the judge several times during the proceedings, to cry out: ‘All promises go to Jah and Jehovah!’
She reportedly said that she was an educated Negro woman and signed documents when asked. Signing nothing is something I do not believe in. Allah, all praise be to you!
In October 2020, she was captured by police on Coney Island. She had threatened to leap off Steeplechase Pier if police tried to locate her.
According to the Bronx Times, she was moved to Coney Island Hospital in October 2020 for a psychiatric evaluation.
