Saturnino De la Fuente Garcia, the father-of-8, passed away Tuesday morning in his northern Spanish home of Leon.
He was less than one month away from his 113th birthday.

He was to be with his family to celebrate his birthday on February 8th, the day he claimed to be born. Official records however record that he was actually born three days later.
Saturnino, who was 112 years old and 211 when he died last September at the age of 111, earned the title of the Guinness Book of Records world’s oldest male.
Antonina Barrio was his father and he also had a large extended family. He had 22 great-grandchildren as well as 14 grandchildren. He was only eight years old when one of his eight children, the boy, passed away.
Saturnino replied to a quiz about how he has managed his longevity.
Saturnino, a passionate football fan, was remembered Tuesday afternoon by Cultural y Deportivo Leonesa. They tweeted, ‘We are saddened at the passing of Saturnino De la Fuente. We will always remember him with great affection.
“We are sorry for his loss, and would like to send our sympathies to his loved ones.”

Guinness World Records stated: “We are sorry to announce that Saturnino Garcia de la Fuente Garcia passed away in his residence at the age 112 years, 341 days.”
Robert Young Senior Gerontology Consultant confirmed the news. He also verified Saturnino’s September 2021 record of being the oldest male still living.
“The record holder is the oldest living person at precisely 112 years old and 211 days.
Saturnino started a successful shoe-making shop in Puente Castro, Leon. He was too short to be enlisted for the Spanish Civil War.
He eventually made boots for Spanish Army.
Kane Tanake turned 119 in Japan last month, making him the oldest person still living.
