Rolling! A young panda slides and tumbles in snow at the National Zoo, D.C.

This adorable footage shows a young panda rolling around in snow at Washington D.C.’s zoo.

This video was filmed by Smithsonian National Zoo and shows Xiao Qi Ji performing forward rolls under inches of snow as well as sliding down a bank.

According to the zoo, the panda seemed more comfortable this year than it was last year when it first encountered snow.

According to the National Weather Service, Washington D.C. received 8.5 inches (21.9 cm) of snow on Monday.

The young animal was seen performing forward rolls and sliding down a snowy bank as approximately 8.5 inches of snow fell during the day

As snow fell throughout the day, this young animal could be seen doing forward rolls as well as sliding down a bank of snow. 

On Monday’s video, the young panda can be seen walking on the Washington DC snow. Then it ducks down to do a forward rolling.

The animal rolls backwards, appears to be stuck on top of the snow-covered bush, but it then proceeds forwards, sliding down a slippery bank towards its mother.

The cub can be seen later with its mother, as heavy snow falls around them.

The Smithsonian National Zoo posted the video to its Facebook page. It said that the little girl, aged 16 months, “plowed his face into fresh powder and rolled about, enjoying the first snow day of the year.”

Also, the video was posted to Twitter by the zoo. It has been seen more than 125,000 time since Monday.

The clip attracted thousands comments from adoring followers, including from Susan Decker who said: ‘It hasn’t *really* snowed in DC until the panda rolls at the @nationalzoo.’

Another user commented: “Please set up a snowcam to allow us to monitor it all day!”

Another added, “I just watch this over and over.” The little man is enjoying so much.

Officials said that thousands of residents were left stranded overnight on Interstate 95, Virginia’s 50-mile stretch. The snowstorm dumped as much as a foot (30cm) in the area.
