A gunman aged 18 killed fourteen children and one teacher in a Texas elementary school. He was later shot to death by the police.
Governor Greg Abbott was quick to name Salvador Roma, 18, a Uvalde High student, the gunman at Robb Elementary on Tuesday afternoon.
Salvador Ramos later changed the name.
CNN’s Ed Lavandera reports that his student victims ranged in age from seven to eleven years.
Abbott claimed that Abbott had shot and murdered 14 students and a teacher – incomprehensibly and horribly – during a briefing.
“There are still families who are grieving right now. The state of Texas also mourns with them.
Ramos shared many photos on his social media of gun-related images. A girl Ramos knew via Instagram messaged him and tag her in an image of the guns.
‘I got lil secret. One message stated, “I want to tell you.”
He said, “Be grateful that I tag you,”
She said, “No, that’s not scary,” adding, “I barely know you” and asked: “Did you tag me in an image with guns?”
Robb Elementary School is home to 600 students and can be found in Uvalde. This city, the hometown of Matthew McConaughey lies 60 miles east the Mexican border. San Antonio is 80 miles away.
Ramos, possibly equipped with a pistol and possibly a rifle, is alleged to have shot his grandmother. Abbott claimed that he entered the school before opening fire. Around 11:32am, the shooting began.
Photographs show that a pickup truck crashed in front of the school. This was the vehicle Ramos, Abbott claims, abandoned just before entering the school.
A Uvalde Memorial emergency department is treating 13 children and a 45 year-old man with a “graze” that left him with a severe burn.
University Health San Antonio has also confirmed the birth of a baby, whose current condition remains unknown. Also received was a critical-ill woman aged 66.

This was the most tragic incident in high school history. In 2018, 14 students from Florida and three adults were murdered. It also marks the worst attack on an elementary school in the United States since 2012’s Sandy Hook massacre in Connecticut. Twenty children were among the victims, and six others were injured.

Robb elementary school has 600 students and is located in Uvalde. It’s 60 miles from Mexico border and 80 mi west of San Antonio.
Ted Cruz (a Republican Senator from Texas) tweeted that he was ‘lifting up the families and children in Uvalde’
However, Senator Chris Murphy (a Connecticut Democratic senator) appealed for more violence prevention.
This isn’t an inevitable outcome, and these children weren’t lucky. This happens here and only there. Murphy, speaking on the Senate’s floor, said that no other country has little kids who go to school with the fear that they may be shot one day.
I’m on the floor to plead, to get on my knees to ask my fellow workers: There is a pathway forward. He said, “Work with us to make it less likely that laws are passed.”
This is the latest in a string of mass shootings that have occurred in America this month.

Fox News reported that shots had been fired at Uvalde and that the gunman fled to school after killing one victim. The gunman fled to the school, where he was still barricaded. He then died from injuries sustained in an attack by police.
