After a five-day Caribbean cruise, sirens go off as a 15-year old boy dies on a luxury liner that returns to Miami. Firm claims it was suicide.

  • Unnamed, 15-year old leapt from 16th-floor and hit the 8th deck of MSC Seashore Ship before plummeting into the ocean around 7.30 PM Wednesday
  •  MSC characterized the death aboard their ship, which was returning to Miami after 5 days through the Carribean and Bahamas, as a suicide in a press release
  • Social media has seen viral videos featuring passengers reacting to the ship’s “man overboard” announcement shared many times.
  •  On December 12, a woman in her 20’s presumably died after falling overboard from a Carnival Cruises ship traveling from Long Beach to Mexico

The suicide jump of a teenage boy from a cruise liner returning to Miami was an apparent suicide attempt after his five-day Caribbean voyage.

The unidentified teen leaped off the 16th deck of the brand-new 20-level MSC Seashore, hitting the eighth-floor deck before landing in the water, according to officials from the cruise line.

A young man who was onboard MSC Seashore Wednesday evening with his family appears to have committed suicide. Our team immediately notified authorities and our care team is assisting the young man’s family on board,’ cruise officials said.

MSC Cruises’ staff is devastated. We will keep the family in our prayers and thoughts.

On Wednesday, passengers were alerted at approximately 7.30 pm by three blasts from the horn as well as a’man-overboard’ alarm.

‘We just had 3 emergency blasts following captain’s announcement “Man Overboard.” Crew Center reported that people began running towards the sides of the ship to see what was happening, even though it was night.

‘A crew member appeared at our cabin and asked us to close the balcony doors and open the blinds. Tomorrow, police will board the plane to Miami in order to investigate this terrible incident.

An unidentified teenage boy, aged 15, jumped overboard of an MSC Seashore cruise ship Wednesday night in a TikTok video.

The teen jumped from the 16th floor deck of the ship, hitting the 8th floor deck before falling into the water

The 16th-floor deck was where the teen leapt. He then hit the 8th deck and fell into the water.

Another passenger reacted to the 'man overboard' announcement in real time as she appeared to be filming an unrelated video

One passenger also reacted in real time to the “man overboard” announcement, appearing to be filming an entirely unrelated video.

A passenger with an emotional username, ‘Fancy CheapSkate’ on YouTube, reacted immediately to the alarm by running out to her window and giggling when she heard a voice announce that there had been a man overboard from the port side.

Panicked she shouts’man overboard!’ from the other side.

“The ship still moves. The ship was still moving. I was hoping it would slow down. The passenger said that he didn’t believe a huge ship would come to an abrupt halt.

It would take some time. But I have no idea what they are going to do. It’s unclear if they will send a boat out to conduct a search. We’re just moving. This just doesn’t feel right. It still feels like we’re still going forward.’

TikTok user AustinHamaway shared the announcement also on his TikTok profile. Before entering the hallway of the cruise ship, he briefly displayed the dark waters around the ship.

'The guy that jumped off ended up not making it,' @AustinHamaway said in a follow up video, saying that his parents had spoken with the parents of the 15-year-old before the incident he would update viewers with further information.

@AustinHamaway stated that the guy who jumped off did not make it. He also said that the boy’s parents spoke with him before the incident and that they would provide more information to viewers.

The user explained that the guy that leapt off did not make it.

The passengers spent a lengthy time in seclusion, but were eventually told by staff that they had no cause to be worried and that their cruise was heading to Miami where police would conduct an investigation into the tragic incident.

In November, the MSC Seashore was the latest addition to their fleet. It returned to Miami from a five-day Caribbean cruise.

It was the second cruise ship death this month.

On December 12, a woman in her 20s died after falling into the Pacific from the balcony of a Carnival cruise ship during a sailing from Long Beach to Mexico. According to police, the victim was forced and is being investigated by the FBI.
