An avid plant fan shared his TikTok video in which he added a little cinnamon to the soil
“You may be wrongly watering your plants. Let me tell you why. The fungusgnats are tiny, tiny insects that fly around plants. Brad clarified that they love damp soil.
“So let your plants dry off more… You can also use cinnamon to stop the cycle. This is basically what fungus-gnats are looking for.
It’s as simple as that. It works, is safe and smells delicious.
Brad explained that the flies could continue to lay eggs under soil if they aren’t removed.
They will not stop their cycle if you don’t. He said that their natural attraction is damp soil.
Brad also suggested that you water plants from the bottom instead of just the top. Many believe that the plants will absorb exactly the amount of water they need without having to irrigate their soil.
The cinnamon trick may not work. He suggested that you cover your soil with stones if this isn’t possible.
Watering your plants can be done from the bottom, instead of at the top.
Bottom watering is a simple way to water your plants evenly and strengthen roots as you water them towards moisture.
Many believe that plants can absorb exactly the amount of water they need without having to irrigate their soil.
