The moment a boulder about the same size as a car is thrown onto a mountain sends climbers fleeing.
On the Terskol glacier, Europe’s tallest peak (18510ft Mount Elbrus), in southern Russia, the giant rock broke loose.
Climbers fear for their lives and are alerted to this by an audible crash when the boulder falls from the ridge.

Sergey Petrov (29), from Cheboksary was the one who shot this scary drama. He said that he does a lot hiking and camping.
“It was our second visit to Elbrus. Before climbing to the summit, we were doing an acclimatization hike.
“We were climbing and heard a loud crackle.
“I saw a boulder rolling around, and I looked around.
It was approximately the size of an automobile.
He stated, “At first it wasn’t interesting or fun.
“But, when the boulder moved towards us without altering its trajectory it became terrifying.”
It skidded on the ice and eventually came to rest along the side glacier. The top is approximately 11,000ft high.

Petrov said, ‘Thankfully, nobody was struck by the boulder’, and the horror of August for the first-time.
“Everyone was healthy and well. No one was hurt or maimed.
“We were very lucky.”
Elbrus is located in the Caucasus Mountains and has a total 23 glaciers.
