What was his greatest achievement? Ed Sheeran, along with his starstruck friends, prepare to perform the nation anthem next month at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Even for a man tipped this weekend to become Britain’s first billionaire musician, it is a nerve-racking challenge.

But when Ed Sheeran performs at the grand finale of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations on June 5, he will have plenty of company.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that a glittering array of stars will join Sheeran as he leads the country in singing the national anthem at the end of the Jubilee Pageant.

Ed Sheeran (pictured), will perform the final performance of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, June 5, and will be surrounded by many people as he sings “The National Anthem”.

A source said: ‘There will be names that we closely associate with each decade of the Queen’s reign and they will be joining Ed Sheeran for the closing proceedings.’

Sheeran’s stellar ‘backing singers’ will include pop stars Sandie Shaw, Marc Almond and Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley, along with soprano Lesley Garrett and Jools Holland.

Other notable celebrities include Felicity Johnson, Felicity Jones and Shirley Ballas. Valerie Singleton, Peter Purves, and Valerie Singleton were also present on Blue Peter.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Sheeran will be joined by a glittering cast of stars as he sings the nation’s anthem during the Jubilee Pageant. This includes Holly Willoughby (left), and Shirley Ballas.

Britain’s Olympic heroes loom large, including Lord Seb Coe, Tessa Sanderson and Dame Kelly Holmes. Michael Fish from TV’s weatherman will be present, who once said that no hurricane was coming just hours before 1987’s Great Storm.

Their appearance will come at the end of four days of celebrations to mark the Queen’s seven decades on the Throne. The cast of Mamma Mia will perform as part of the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. The musical will be performing Abba songs while floating.

During the pageant parade, each decade of the Queen’s reign will be represented by an open-topped bus featuring well-known personalities associated with the era.
