The British Soap Awards returned live to ITV for the first time in two years after the 2020 and 2021 ceremonies were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
ITV replaced it with a special 60-minute program entitled “The British Soap Awards Celebrations 21 Years”, which was broadcast by ITV. Phillip Schofield, the long-running host, presented the show.
Phillip (60), host of the soap, was greeted by a multitude of soap actors to London’s Hackney empire, where they fought it out for prizes in 14 categories.
They were either selected by experts judges, or the public. The award winners could be voted for in three categories: Best British Soap; Best Leading Performer; and Best Family.
Meanwhile, it was reported earlier this year that The British Soap Awards opted to axe the male and female categories.
