After a litter of puppies saved her from the freezing cold, a newborn girl in India was left behind by her Indian parents.
The baby girl was discovered in a field in the Saristal village of Lormi in India’s Chhattisgarh province, nestled alongside the puppies, completely uninjured, by locals who heard her crying.
According to some theories, the mother of the puppies found the infant naked while still wearing her umbilical chord and lay beside it.
Local representative Munnalal Patel said that a group heading out for daily chores had found the newborn.
After being abandoned in an Indian field, a newborn girl was brought home to her mother by a litter puppies.
The puppies’ mother was believed to have found them naked with her umbilical cord still attached. She then laid down beside the child near Lormi, India’s Chhattisgarh region.
They stated: “At 11 AM, we noticed a crying baby girl lying beside the puppies of our village.
We panicked and informed health officials before the baby was admitted to hospital.
Another local, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It could be the warmth of puppies or their mothers who kept this newborn alive.
They added that it was ‘sheer luck’ that the girl, who has been named Akanksha, survived the night given how the temperature dips during the night – particularly at this time of year.
The police were contacted by the Panchayat branch, after Akanksha had been discovered.
Shortly after, officers arrived and took the child to the hospital for further examination.
The girl, who has since been named Akanksha, was transported the child to hospital so doctors could examine her condition
The police are currently investigating the matter and trying to identify the parent of this child.
Child Line Project was also made aware about the child’s circumstances.
Premnath, one of the locals, stated that the miracle the baby survived was due to the fact that stray dog can be very vicious.
They claimed that they were criminals and not parents. Only a miracle can a newborn baby survive when there are stray dogs lurking at night.
Police are looking for the parents of the baby and an investigation has begun.
