According to reports, a lorry driver was attacked and killed by three migrants trying to get to the UK on Sunday night.

The co-driver was also Portuguese and told investigators that one of the migrants punched the truck driver after they ordered him to get out.

According to the news outlet, the driver suffered from various health problems and was being treated for a cardiac issue.

France Bleu said that he was obese and had been smoking.

Police were called on the spot at the Epitre motorway rest area around 10:30 p.m.

The investigation into the details of this incident is still ongoing in local investigations. Officials claim that the driver reported the migrants to police.

The clash on Sunday evening was not the only violent incident that involved drivers and migrants trying to reach Calais from the UK.

In 2017, a Polish driver of a van was killed after migrants put tree trunks on roads to slow traffic and sneak on to lorries. Nine Eritrean nationals were later arrested over the incident.

The same year, another migrant hit a truck driver head-on with a brick while other people stole his vehicle.

The A16 was also involved in both of these incidents.

In May this year, a British haulier accused migrants in Calais of attacking one of his company’s lorries in an attempt to cross the English channel.

E.M. Rogers Transport owner Ed Rogers told MailOnline that one his lorries had been attacked with breeze blocks and iron bars in France during an ambush.

In December last year, it was reported that a gang of 15 migrants left a British driver bloodied after smashing the window of his cab with a rock as he waited in a queue.

Andy Couper, age 57, suffered bloody eyes from the gang after he was attacked while waiting for a ferry in France.

After the incident, he told The Telegraph that some migrants had tried to enter his truck. Then someone hit it and the passenger window was broken. He suffered injuries.
