Aldi teased today’s iconic Christmas advertisement on social media, featuring an animated banana character named Ebanana Scrooge.
However, it doesn’t feature Kevin the Carrot, the loveable character who has taken centre stage in the last five Christmas campaigns.
This new clip of 20 seconds shows Ebanana, a little girl who patiently waits for Santa. She is snuggled next to her mince pie and a glowing log fire Christmas Eve.

Aldi has revealed the trailer online prior to the full advertisement, which will air on TV nationwide and online on Thursday 11th of November.
The advert teaser caused quite the stir online. One person even shared the hashtag #justiceforkevin.

One person took to Twitter and wrote: “I think the entire thing is bananas #JusticeForKevin”
‘This is going to “split” opinions,’ joked one, while a second penned: ‘We still love Kevin in this house!!!’
One third said: “No way could I forget Kevin Carrot” while another added: “I am split hairs thinking about this. To me, it isn’t a peel.” Our favorite Carrots must be ripe to make the day more enjoyable.
Another commented: ‘I think the whole thing is bananas #JusticeForKevin.’
Another note: Aldi, I’m surrounded by 30 Kevins and other friends. Think about what a banana’s peeling looks like in that place. It’ll cause riots!
Last year, Aldi released a teaser showing Kevin the Carrot flying ‘Top Gun-style’, in a fighter jet escapade with co-pilot Turkey.
The full advertisement was released and revealed that Jim Broadbent, an Oscar-winning actor who played Santa Claus in the movie, joined him. He had the vegetable trek across snow with a friend hedgehog so that Santa Claus could reach his family before Christmas.
In the previous year, 33 million people watched Kevin the Carrot’s Aldi Christmas advertisement. It was the best Christmas advert in 2019.
