Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin were seen in Vermont Thursday night, filling up at Ralph Lauren before retreating to their private home where they are enduring the storm over the accidental shooting of Halyna Hutchins, a cinematographer.
On Thursday, the couple walked out of their Ralph Lauren store without their six children. Baldwin, 63, was seen leaving Ralph Lauren with a small bag in his hand.
He returned to the store on Wednesday, likely to exchange. Later, his 37-year old wife was seen pumping gas in their SUV.
The pair are currently resting in New England as sheriff’s deputy Santa Fe continues to investigate the shooting incident on set last Thursday.
Baldwin, who was both a producer and actor in Rust was rehearsing a scene within a church set when the gun that he was holding fired a live bullet, killing Hutchins (42), and injuring Souza.
It’s not clear how the live ammunition got on the set. But armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who broke her silence on Thursday night, said it wasn’t her fault. Baldwin is one of the movie producers she blames for creating an unsafe set without safety briefings.
The couple was not with their six children on Thursday as they stepped out of the Ralph Lauren store. Baldwin, 63, was seen leaving Ralph Lauren with a small bag in his hand.
Baldwin is cooperating in the ongoing investigation into the death of Halyna Hutchins. He was interviewed by sheriffs, but he has not been charged.
Baldwin stated last week that he was heartbroken by the accident and that Halyna’s widower had spoken to him.
Hilaria, who last week released a statement saying that her heart was with Alec, kept a low profile
Baldwin glanced at his phone while he sat in the passenger seat of his car as he left the gas station.
The 24-year-old armorer in charge of guns on the set of Alec Baldwin’s movie Rust has denied being to blame for Halyna Hutchins’ death in a strongly worded statement where she claims she’s been ‘slandered’ by the media but admits she couldn’t focus on her weapons job because she was given two roles on-set.
Hannah Gutierrez – Reed released a statement through her legal team insisting that she is not responsible for the death Halyna HUTCHINS, the director and photographer who was accidentally shot by Baldwin while they were rehearsing a shooting scene.
Hannah places safety first on her set. This set would not have been compromised if live ammunition were not introduced. Hannah does not know where the live rounds came ‘the statement said in part.
Her attorneys told DailyMail.com on Friday that she was also a ‘key assistant’ in the props department which made it ‘difficult to focus’ on the weapons.
‘Hannah’ was hired to do two roles on the film, which made her unable to concentrate on her work as an armorer.
“Ultimately, this set would not have been compromised if live ammunition were not introduced. Hannah does not know where the live ammunition came from. Hannah and the prop master were granted control over the guns. Hannah never saw anyone shoot live rounds using these guns, nor would she allow it.
“She fought for training, days for weapons maintenance and adequate time to prepare to fire on gunfire, but she was ultimately overruled by production personnel and her department.
“The entire production set became unsafe because of various factors, including a lack of safety meetings. Hannah is not to blame.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was pictured last week (left). She released a statement last week denying responsibility for the fatal accident. She also stated that she was too exhausted on Rust and had two jobs, making it difficult to concentrate on gun safety. Baldwin, right is in Vermont bunkering down and spending time with his family, while the investigation into this shooting continues
Halyna Houtchins, 42, was rushed by an air ambulance to the hospital but could not be saved. Many of the set assistant directors Dave Halls were responsible for unsafe productions. He has not spoken.
Circled is Baldwin, left, standing beside Halyna on set. Gutierrez-Reed can be seen far right. In her statement, she claims that she doesn’t know how live rounds got to the set.
The statement stated that the entire production set was unsafe because of a variety of factors, including the lack safety meetings.
Her claims echo other crew members who claimed the production was unsafe. Most crew members blame Dave Halls as assistant director. He has been accused of operating unsafe sets in the recent past.
Halls said to sheriff’s deputy after the shooting that Gutierrez-Reed asked him to show him the gun, before he handed it over to Baldwin last Thursday.
Halls stated that he could recall seeing three chambers in the gun containing dummy bullets. These bullets are distinguished from real bullets by a small hole in their sides.
Baldwin was then able to see them and declare the gun a ‘cold’ weapon.
Gutierrez Reed asked Gutierrez Reed to take a look inside the chamber again after the shooting. They discovered five rounds, four of them dummies, and one with the spent casing of an actual bullet.
Halls confessed to the sheriff that all rounds had not been checked by him, but that he didn’t.
Others on the set described Gutierrez–Reed as having an unorthodox approach to firearms training.
Jenson Ackles, actress, told how she allowed him to choose his own gun weeks before the tragic accident that involved Hutchins.
Baldwin, 63 years old, is currently hiding on the east coast with his family, while Santa Fe investigation continues.
He is cooperating to the authorities and has spoken with Matthew, Hutchins’ widower.
The fatal accident has not been investigated by any authorities, but Adan Mendoza, Santa Fe County Sheriff, stated that no one had been charged.
‘All options are on the table,’ added Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies.
A search warrant that was released Wednesday shows how the gun reached Baldwin’s hands. However, it is unclear how the live cartridge got into the gun.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Medoza and Mary Carmack–Altwes, District Attorney of Santa Fe, stated Wednesday that all options were open for them when it came to charging those responsible for the accident.
Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department released Wednesday’s portion of the interview Halls and sheriff’s officers.
Alec Baldwin is seen with Halyna Utchins on Rust’s set. The production began filming on October 6. Hutchins was killed in an automobile accident on October 21.
“David advised Hannah to show him the firearm before continuing rehearsal. He could only recall seeing three rounds.”
According to the search warrant, ‘He advised that he should have checked them all, but didn’t and couldn’t recall if she spun a drum.’
Baldwin was given the gun and it was fired in the direction Joel Souza and Halyna Hutchins. Hutchins passed away, while Souza was admitted to hospital.
Halls then brought the gun back with him to Gutierrez Rice and asked her to open it.
The warrant also mentions how Hannah Gutierrez Reed said there were never ‘any live rounds’ at the set.
‘Hannah advised that the ‘dummies were checked by her and that they were not hot rounds.
‘She said as the crew broke for lunch, the firearms were taken back and secured inside a safe on a prop truck on set.
She said that the ammo was left on a cart at lunch and wasn’t secured.
‘After lunch, [property manager]Sarah Zachary took the firearms from the safe in the truck and gave them to Sarah.
She advised that only a few people have access to the safe and the combination.
“Hannah advised that Alec Baldwin received the gun a few times and that David Halls also received it. Hannah stated that no live ammunition is kept on the set.
