Alec Baldwin said that he gave up the ‘preretirement plan’ of travelling, sleeping and reading to have six children with Hilaria Baldwin. It was ‘the honor and the pleasure of a lifetime.
The 63-year-old actor admitted today that he had planned to be living a much more relaxing life at this age, filled with European travel and rest — but meeting his nearly three-decades-younger wife Hilaria in 2011 changed all that.
He and his 37-year-old yoga teacher have six children under nine years old. This is a lifestyle he wrote about in this Instagram caption.

‘I met my wife in early 2011,’ Alec wrote, captioning a short video of his son this Romeo talking and giggling with Alec’s arm wrapped around him.
“And even though I quickly realized that @hilariabaldwin was my love and I wanted to share my life with her,” he continued.

According to The New York Times Hilaria and Alec first met in New York City at a restaurant in February 2011. Hilaria was at another table when Alec approached Hilaria.

They shocked fans earlier this year when they welcomed baby Lucia via surrogate, just months after Hilaria gave birth to son Eduardo
“People collect cars. People collect artwork. My wife collects babies … she likes babies,’ Alec said
She said, “You must be familiar with me.” He gave his card to her, and she replied: “You must be familiar with me?”
Alec had been divorced from ex-wife Kim Basinger since 2002. They had a daughter, Ireland, who was 15 at the time.
‘I’ve dated a lot of people since my divorce, and have thought a lot about what I wanted and what I wanted to do,’ Alec said. Alec said, “I think I thought too much about it. I wasn’t really ready to take that chance and to act until I met Hilaria.’
They moved in together within months and were married on June 30, 2012.
Hilaria, who was just 28 to Alec’s 54 when they married, gave birth to their first child, daughter Carmen, in August of 2013.
She was followed by Rafael in June 2015, Leonardo in September 2016, and Romeo in May 2018.
Alec seems to have indicated that Hilaria was driving the growth of their family. Closer claims that Closer stated, “People collect watches and cars. People collect artwork. My wife collects babies … she likes babies.’

Carmen was born to Hilaria in 2013 by Hilaria. Rafael followed her in 2015 and Leonardo in 2016. Romeo was born in May 2018.
In September 2020 Eduardo was welcomed, while Lucia became a surrogate in March 2021.
When asked by People about having even more kids in 2019, he quipped that Hilaria definitely wanted that — but he didn’t seem so sure himself
‘Oh yeah, she’s up for the challenge. I’m the one who’s not up for the challenge,’ he said.
‘When my kids graduate school, I’ll be 85,’ he explained. ‘As my friends say, when your kids are climbing out the window and they’re going to do really, really bad things when they get older, when they’re in their late teen years, you’ll be deaf anyway so you won’t have to hear it. Let’s see what happens.’
He also said to Ellen DeGeneres that being an older father has its upsides.
He stated, “On one degree, it is more enjoyable.”
Hilaria documented several miscarriages through Instagram. Alex then surprised her fans with two beautiful babies in a short time.
They welcomed Eduardo in September 2020, and Lucia via surrogate in March 2021.
Alec dressed up as Santa Claus and Hilaria were joined by their children in celebrating Christmas at the Hamptons.

Some photos showed Alec in disguise as Santa Claus next to his six children.

Some of the younger children were seen in distress, with their parents, and their older siblings stood beside them, smiling happily in front of the large Christmas tree.
Hilaria shared many other joyous moments from the Christmas Eve festivities with her family, including time spent together in the kitchen. Later, she shared photos of the children unwrapping gifts under the tree.
Just two days before, Alec posted a video on Instagram saying he has been having a ‘really tough time’ in recent weeks after accidentally shooting dead a cinematographer on the set of Rust.
He uploaded the video two months later, when he was speaking direct into the camera. This happened after Halyna Hutchins (42), died at the shooting of Western movies in New Mexico.
Alec’s three-minute video is long and slow. He tells viewers how he lives for his children and wife.
Alec had just posted an Instagram video two days prior announcing that he was having a difficult time in recent weeks following the death of a Rust cinematographer.
Alec said while standing outside, “I just wanted to thank everyone who has sent me kind words and good wishes and strength and hopes and prayers and so forth.”
“I received hundreds upon hundreds of emails from family, friends and colleagues. People I hadn’t seen in a long time wanted to give me support and best wishes. Thank you so much. Many of the people who comment on Instagram are very supportive in this situation.
He continued, “I look forward to some aspects being behind me,” he said.
“For all those involved in this, it will never be over because someone has died so tragically. This is something I don’t lose sight of. It’s something I think about every day.
Alec currently is the center of an investigation into Hutchins’ death. He was killed on October 31st at Rust.
Alec, the prop gun Alec held was able to set off a projectile that caused Alec’s death. Joel Souza was also wounded in the shoulder, but he survived.
Alec stated, “I’m at home with my family. It’s the only thing that I care about.”
Alec shared the emotion in a video message.
‘I just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who gave me positive vibes and support. This has been very difficult for me. It’s been difficult. Happy holidays, happy Hanukkah, happy Christmas and happy Kwanzaa. No matter what holiday it is,’ he added in the clip. It appeared that the clips were shot in Hamptons.
“I wish you are as fortunate as me in one department, and I hope you have a wonderful time at home with your loved ones. My family is my home. That’s all I have. It’s all that really matters.
I don’t know what to write, so just say thank you for these wonderful wishes. Wear a mask and get the booster to keep yourself safe. Alec stated, “Don’t allow Santa Claus to descend the chimney without wearing a mask.”
