A mad amateur gardener attacked her neighbor for displaying her plants in containers.

Angela Williams, 57, launched a furious attack when she overheard a remark made by Jasmina Vidovic about the large plant pots on the drive of her £400,000 bungalow home in Christchurch, Dorset.

After being told that she had to pay thousands of pounds in damages and fines for attacking Ms Vidovic, Williams was thrown into hot water.

Peter Adams (a university lecturer of 62 years) had complained previously to Williams about his 2-foot wide pathway to his bungalow to the side.

Williams received the note from his neighbor asking him to take down the pots. He then found it was messed up again and had to put it back in his letterbox.

However, tempers flared and Williams later called Ms Vidovic “fat cow” before hitting her four more times in her face. This left her with severe headaches and bruises.

Williams was fined £180 and ordered to pay Ms Vidovic £100 in compensation at Poole Magistrates’ Court, but shocked the justices in attendance by shouting from the dock: ‘She is not getting a penny from me!’

Peter Adams was reunited with Ms Vidovic on May 14, 2020 when he returned to Mudeford in Dorset.

The court was told Williams was working in her garden and that a trellis was keeping him out of sight.

After hearing this comment, she ran to Ms Vidovic to call her a fat cow and told Mr Adams, “Can’t you do better than the one that Peter?” His ‘lady buddy’ was also mentioned.

Bosnian-born Ms Vidovic assumed that it was a racial slur.

Williams repeatedly punched Ms Vidovic who was clutching two tomato plant carrier bags at the time, and she became shocked. After the attack, Williams left Ms. Vidovic with headaches and some bruising on her face.

Williams sent a note to her neighbor the next day, in which she apologized for Williams’ ‘unladylike’ behavior.

After being arrested for assault she said to police that she had only struck Ms Vidovic in self defense.

But she was found guilty of assault following a trial at Poole Magistrates’ Court and was ordered to pay her victim £100 compensation.

An apparently unrepentant defendant shouted out from the dock: “She’s not getting one penny from me.”

Williams was advised she could be sentenced to imprisonment if she didn’t pay.

Williams then repeatedly punched a shocked Ms Vidovic, who was holding two carrier bags of tomato plants outside her £400,000 home (pictured above, right) at the time

After the ordeal, University lecturer Peter Adams, 62, (above) said the stress of the case had caused him and Ms Vidovic to split up. He has also sold his home because of it

Peter Adams (62), University lecturer, said that Ms Vidovic and him had split because of all the stress. Because of the case, he also sold his home.

Following the trial, Adams claimed that Ms Vidovic and him had become stressed out. It led to him selling his house.

Magistrates learned that Williams was a resident of Mountbatten Close (Mudeford) for around 14 years.

Five plant pots with roses, Azaleas, and Hebes were kept by the woman close to the property’s side wall.

However, in the weeks leading to the attack, there had been a continuing dispute over the fact that they were blocking Adams’ access to his back yard.

Williams had told her friend a few weeks earlier that she was going to ‘knock off her block’ in reference to Ms Vidovic, who had been complaining about them.

According to Mr Adams, Ms Vidovic discovered that the road was blocked when she returned from work on the date in question.

He stated that he couldn’t cross his path due to the pots. The pots made me angry.

I had sent Angela a polite request to have them removed. However, the note was hurriedly stuffed up and put through my doors.

“She (Ms Vidovic), noticed that there were many pots on my property, and she commented to me that this was dangerous.

I was aware that Angela is in the background, about 20ft from my front door.

“Angela” said that it was not your business, in quite an aggressive tone.

“She came up to her and called her by name. She replied “you fat cow” as well “can’t do better than this, Peter?”

“Angela” refers to a party she had attended just a few days before, at which time she stated that I would take her blocks off.”

The card Williams left at her neighbor’s door was shown to Magistrates.

It said: “Peter. Angie. x’

Ms Vidovic acknowledged making an observation about the pots of plants.

She replied, “The pots of plants were along the path’s side wall.” Peter was clearly annoyed at not being able to use the path to reach the back yard. The pots clearly were on Peter’s side.

‘I wasn’t upset. He said that he wanted them gone, but the pots remained there.

“Why would I bother to fix something that wasn’t my problem?”

“I was distraught. This was not a nice day. I felt humiliated.

Williams stated that Williams had no problems with the pots of well-tended plants and would move them if she was asked.

According to her, Ms Vidovic began’mouthing about’ the pots, and she pointed her finger at her face.

She said, “I felt threatened by them and made a pre-emptive striking strike against her. I slapped her one time to the face with my righthand with force that felt reasonable under the circumstances.”

She was convicted by the magistrates after they rejected her account of events.

Williams was fined £180 and told to pay £100 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
