Karene Peter plays the young girl in the opening scenes. She is seen returning to her normal life, which includes going to university, and seeing old friends.

After a year in confinement and lockdown, however, she seems overwhelmed by the noises and hustle of the crowds.

Mouna Diaye plays her neighbor. She can also be heard listening on the radio, which reports: “In other news,” experts have warned that anxiety is rising in young adults as they warn about the potential effects of the pandemic.

Next, the neighbour goes to the local park to feed the birds. The young woman then sits down on another bench and smiles.

On her way home, the neighbor opens Amazon on her smartphone and orders a present. The young lady later arrives at her doorstep with the gift.

After opening the box, she was delighted to discover a bird feeder, which she placed in her backyard, and she then took a moment to admire the beautiful birds it attracted.

As she looks out at her neighbor from her balcony, the young woman puts her hand on her heart.

After forming close friendships, the advert concludes with them returning to their park.

The advert marks the launch of Amazon’s global Christmas campaign, which also includes the opening of The Amazon Christmas Shop today.

The heart-warming TV feature is set to rival the likes of John Lewis and Marks & Spencer, as the delivery colossus prepares to win over festive shoppers.

Also, it comes as a result of Matalan’s and Asda’s Christmas advertisements last week.

Ed Smith from Amazon, EU GM of Integrated Marketing said that this holiday season would be shaped by the experiences of those who were affected during the pandemic.

“The past 18 month has been difficult for everyone across the globe including young adults. You cannot take your time with us for granted.

The world may not return to its normal state, but there will be new opportunities for connection and kindness.

It follows last year’s tear-jerking advert, which featured a determined ballerina who performed for her neighbours in the snow after her show was cancelled by the Covid-19 crisis.

In this ad, the youngster was seen wearing masks while her family organized an outdoors performance that featured the dancer performing for neighbors during Christmas in the snow.
