As the Queen celebrates Christmas Eve with Charles, Camilla and Edward, an intruder armaged, aged 19, is taken into custody on Windsor Castle grounds










Thames Valley Police reported that an armed intruder was arrested today at Windsor Castle.

A 19-year old suspect is currently being held by police. He was carrying an offensive weapon. According to a police spokesperson, the suspect did not attempt entry into any buildings.

Charles, the Queen’s son, and Camilla, his wife are celebrating Christmas at Windsor Castle. Edward, Sophie, and James have joined them. 

According to police, the Royal Family was aware of the incident. Superintendent Rebecca Mears said in a statement: ‘An investigation is ongoing following this incident and we are working with colleagues from the Metropolitan police.

‘The man has been arrested on suspicion of breach or trespass of a protected site and possession of an offensive weapon. He is currently being held.

‘We can confirm security processes were triggered within moments of the man entering the grounds and he did not enter any buildings.

‘Members of the Royal Family have been informed about the incident. We do not believe there is a wider danger to the public.’
