Police have launched a murder investigation after armed officers found a man dead with serious injuries inside a £350,000 bungalow.

Dorset police received a report of concerns for the welfare of an occupant of a detached home in Christchurch, Dorset, at 7.53pm on Tuesday.

According to neighbors, officers responded to the call and battered the garage door adjacent to the bungalow to gain access and then hurled smoke bombs into the bungalow.

Upon entry, police discovered the body of a man in his 30s with serious injuries inside the three-bedroom suburban home at around 8pm.

Dorset Police confirms that the man’s nearest relatives have been notified and that the coroner was informed about his death.

Emma Sweetzer (Dorset Police Detective Chief Inspector) said that they are appealing to anyone who saw or heard something suspicious around the area on Sunday.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said eight police vans, an ambulance and a police helicopter attended the incident last night.

Six armed officers were said to have approached the house before he smashed down the garage doors.

He stated that he heard the helicopter above his head and then the police came in with armed officers to try to get into the house.

“They placed a smoke grenade in the garage and then battered it down.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Sweetzer, of Dorset Police, said they were appealing for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area since Sunday

Emma Sweetzer (Dorset Police Detective Chief Inspector) said that they are appealing to witnesses who might have witnessed or heard something suspicious in the vicinity since Sunday.

“They looked around and found that they could gain entry from the rear.

“We were instructed to return home by our neighbors. The ambulance was there, but I never saw anyone get out. 

Janine Mears (41), a second-level school welfare officer said that it was a very nice neighborhood and that the incident is isolated.

“I live here now for almost 10 years. I still can’t believe it.”

The cordon with the aforementioned remained in effect on Wednesday morning. Two police cars, one van with forensics and another van with police officers outside the address. 

In a statement, DCI Sweetzer said Officers will conduct a thorough investigation in order to identify the ‘those responsible. 

She also said that her thoughts were with the grieving family.

“We are going to conduct an extensive investigation in order to determine exactly what occurred at this address. Our efforts will be directed towards finding the responsible.

I am asking anyone who has seen or heard any suspicious activity in this area after Sunday 2/1/2022, to contact us.

A cordon has been established at the address. As we continue our investigations, there will still be heavy police presence nearby.
