Two years ago, Anthony Albanese was married to his partner. She will now be Australia’s new First Lady.

Jodie Haydon (43) and Mr Albanese (41), will be the only unmarried couple who receive the keys to the residences of the Prime Minister after Julia Gillard (33) and Tim Mathieson (2013).

While rare for an unmarried PM to be elected in Australia, they do have some company, with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern postponing her wedding to fiancé Clark Gayford earlier this year amid an Omicron outbreak.

Ms Haydon is currently dating Mr Albanese (59) since 2020. She previously indicated that she would keep her job if he was elected. She took on the position of women’s officer with the NSW Public Service Association back in February.

Although Ms Haydon (the daughter of NSW central coast teachers) did not play a major role in Mr Albanese’s campaign, her presence at events has been consistent.

They will move in together with Nathan, Toto and Toto’s ‘First Dog’ cavaloodle Toto into Kirribilli House on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

Ms Haydon, in the run-up to the election said that “I will turn to that if it is successful on Saturday.”

“I don’t get ahead of myself when I think about this.”

Two weeks ago, Ms Haydon criticized outgoing PM Scott Morrison on a podcast. This was just two weeks after she had posed for a photoshoot in magazine with the Opposition leader.

She attacked the Prime Minister for failing to implement the 55 recommendations in the Jenkins report on sexual harassment.

As the NSW Public Service Association’s women’s officer, she discussed the topic.

“One thing we should be doing is to adopt Respect at Work and the 55 recommendations from the Jenkins Report,” she stated.

“You know that these steps can be taken, and they are tangible. But, at this time, there is no way to see them in practice.

Brittany Higgins was also mentioned by Ms Haydon, as well Grace Tame who are two young women that have publicly spoken out about sexual harassment.

“I think that we all looked at Ms Tame’s bravery, and thought, “Here’s somebody who takes the Australian Of The Year platform and uses it to tell their stories,” she shared about her abuser, her math teacher.

She stated that she will use her new position to “really advance women’s issues and agitate towards change.”

She stated, “I’m going be fairly relentless, I think,”

Opposition Leader asked the crowd to identify any South Sydney-loving fans. Ms Haydon was a finance worker and lives in Grayndler.

Later, he introduced himself to him and the pair decided to have a beer when they returned from Sydney.

Following 19 years of marriage and a total of 30 years, Mr Albanese split with Ms Tebbutt.

He stated that he still felt emotionally bruised by the shock of his sudden split, which he said was not a result of third-party interference but was a surprise.

Ms Haydon has never married nor had children and said she didn’t want a relationship. But she discovered she loved Mr Albanese in January 2021 after his car crashed in the street.

He was hit by Range Rover’s Toyota and was taken to the hospital. However, he did not sustain any serious injuries.

Ms Haydon recalls seeing the wreckage of her boyfriend’s car at Marrickville and arriving on the spot.

“I saw the wreckage of a vehicle before I saw him, and thought that he could not survive this,” she said. It was very scary, and in that moment, you realise just how much you love this person – the fear of losing them,’ she said.

“As soon as I saw Anthony in an ambulance, I realized the extent of my feelings for him.
