Beatlemania The Fab Four manager Brian Epstein is back in Liverpool. A new film chronicles his complicated life.

The movie is called Midas Man, after the man with the golden touch who, in addition to The Beatles, also helped launch the careers of Gerry And The Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas — and a club cloakroom attendant called Priscilla White… better known to us as Cilla Black.

It’s like everything old is new again. Kenneth Branagh has cast a Bee Gees biopic. A stage musical about the Osmonds is in pre-production.

Jacob Fortune-Lloyd was one of the stars in Netflix’s hit Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit. He spent months researching Epstein’s history in order to play the role of the lead. Fortune-Lloyd explained to me that Epstein was a middle class boy from some privilege. Epstein’s father, Harry, made a fortune in Merseyside department store sales.

Brian Epstein had a flair for design and was effortlessly stylish — always immaculate in hand-made suits (a little like the Burberry tuxedo Jacob Fortune-Lloyd is wearing in my exclusive first picture of him in the role)

The script, by Jonathan Wakeham and Brigit Grant, focuses on Epstein (pictured). But, of course, the six years he spent with The Beatles are a key part of British rock history, and the actors assembled to play them will do their key scenes next month.

He said, “It’s so fascinating when you get these figures that shape culture but are not part of the mainstream,”

“He was gay, a Jew, and a cultured. He loved classical music, and wanted to be an actor. He was the man who created the most beloved and well-known rock ‘n roll band in history.

His armour was his clothes; they got him out of the door. His words did all the rest.

Once he’d discovered The Beatles in the Cavern nightclub in 1961 — John, Paul, George, and then drummer Pete Best — he set about changing them . . . They wore the leather jackets that they had worn during their time in Hamburg and changed to their sharp suits and ties.

Day’s book Instructions On A Teenage Armageddon was just published last week. Now, she is ecstatic to be able to’step into Cilla’s amazing shoes’. She explained to me that there is only one Cilla and it was an honor to play such an iconic trailblazer.

Fortune-Lloyd is filming in Port Sunlight, the Wirral, this week with Emily Watson and Omari Douglas.

Nicole Kidman is not concerned about the wet weather.

She gets soaked every day anyway, filming underwater scenes in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom with Jason Momoa (so great in Dune with Rebecca Ferguson & Timothee Chalamet).

Kidman portrays Atlanna, Momoa’s mother. She will also appear in Aaron Sorkin’s film Being The Ricardos. She plays Lucille Bal.
