Oh no! Benedict Cumberbatch has shared the story of how he was able to get nicotine poisoning during production for The Power Of The Dog.

Benedict explained how he was cured of nicotine poisoning by filing scenes for the “sadistic Ranch owner”.[Smoking]This was extremely difficult. You can just use the filterless rollsies as you normally would, and take what you need. Myself was exposed to nicotine poisoning 3 times. This is what happens when you smoke heavily.

Nicotine poisoning is when a person has too much nicotine in their body following ingestion, inhalation, or skin contact.

Symptoms of nicotine poisoning include nausea, excess saliva in the mouth, vomiting, loss of appetite, dehydration, headaches, eye irritation and dizziness.

Benedict, in spite of his smoking problems, said that he fully immersed himself into the role, and even embraced it away from cameras.

He stated, “I want that layer of smell on me.” It was important for people to smell my stench. But it was difficult. It wasn’t just in rehearsals. Jane invited me out for dinner and to meet up with her friends. [Champion – the film’s writer and director]And stuff.

This isn’t the only time the TV star has been struck down with nicotine poisoning, as he also suffered with it while filming a Sherlock episode called A Scandal In Belgravia back in 2012.

Benedict had to take deep drag after deep drag as they filmed several takes for the scene, which lead to him getting nicotine poisoning.

Benedict teased Esquire UK about whether or not he would reprise Sherlock’s role. He said that it was a matter of ‘never say ever’ and added that the circumstances for his potential return to Sherlock must be right.

Additionally, he stated that it’s too early to expect the series to have an ‘other life’. He added that it’s ‘had its moment’ for now. It ended in 2017.

In his interview, the actor explained that he enjoys challenging work because it gives his family validation for long periods away from their home.

He stated that he enjoys his work. If I work, it is hard work. This must be something worth leaving home and my family for. This is to make them… Lucky me, I’m able to learn a new skill, and it can be called work.
