Sept. 1: Laundrie returns to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida in a van without Petito

Sept. 11:Schmidt reported Petito as missing to New York authorities. Petito and Laundrie were both impounded in Florida by the police that very day.

Sept. 23FBI issues an arrest warrant to Laundrie on charges of “use of unauthorized acces device” for using fraudulently a Capitol One Bank credit card, which was not his, between August 30th and September 1st to spend $1,000. A probe into Utah’s police response is initiated on Aug. 12. Laundrie’s family visits their Orlando attorney.
