Call My Agent! The British version of the French hit cult classic is about to be adapted by its characters! Because UK workplaces tend to be more polite than their counterparts in France, the characters will not be as resembling them too closely.
The English-speaking remake of the acclaimed comedy series, created by writer Fanny Herrero, is set to premiere in the UK and Ireland on Amazon Prime Video later this year.
But there will be slight differences in the two shows’ characters, with Herrero telling The Sunday Times there are ‘fundamental differences’ in what French and British audiences find funny.
Christian Baute is the executive producer of the show. He believes that the same ‘exuberant’ humor used by certain characters wouldn’t work culturally for the UK.

Lydia Leonard will take on a character resembling the French show’s linchpin Andrea while Jack Davenport will take on a similar role to partner and agent Mathias
“Camille exudes energy. According to her, that kind of exuberance is not common in Britain. They are different.
“They would not be as honest in their judgement. They would behave more politely. The French characters would not say the same things. Andréa, if she doesn’t like something, she would just say she doesn’t like it.’
Herrero was the creator and writer of the series. He added that British humor is more self-deprecating than French comedy.
The original French cast includes Thibault de Montalembert as partner and agent Mathias Barneville and Camille Cottin as sexually liberated firecracker Andrea Martel.
Meanwhile, in the English-speaking adaptation, British stage actress Lydia Leonard will take on a character resembling the French show’s linchpin Andrea, while Jack Davenport will take on a similar role to Mathias.
It retains the core of the French series. The story is about a talent agency in Paris that must try to maintain their clients’ happiness and keep the company afloat following the death of its founder.
But, John Morton will be directing the remake. He’ll bring his British sensibility to it and create new stories.
In May last year it was announced that Line Of Duty ‘s Kelly Macdonald – who took on the role of DSI Jo Davidson in the BBC police drama series – had signed up for the series.
