Ely London is a celebrity makeup artist who has shared her best tips on how to highlight the beauty of your face, regardless of its shape. How to make small eyes seem larger (photo:
Edy said, “Of course, I’m going to start off with the eyelashes.” If you have small or no eyes, then a pair of eyelashes will lift your eyes.
Contrasting the inner and outside corners of your eyes can make them look bigger.
For maximum impact, apply an eyeliner in the corner. Then dust your inner corners with a reflective, textured shadow to help them open.

Edy, an eyelash extension specialist is beloved by stars such as Ellie Goulding (singer) and Trinny woodall (style guru).
‘Even if you have a mono-lid, or your crease isn’t very defined, you can create one.
This is a simple way to increase your vision.
Use a tiny pencil to smoothen the socket.
According to the beauty expert, putting highlighter underneath your eyebrows can instantly lift them and give you the illusion that there is more space.
Black eyeliner alone can make your eyes appear smaller.
“However, eyeliner can be used to open the eyes. A white pencil or beige pencil may also work. This will help to brighten the eye and keep it open.
“Adding more definition at the top of your hair with darker colours will make this look even more striking.”
FEATURE: A rounder face
MAKE-UP TRICK: Place contour products in your cheekbones using your hands.

According to the makeup artist, this hand can be used to guide contour products onto cheekbones.
Ely explained the way the trick can be used to make a big difference in your appearance if you use the right techniques and brushing.
Her advice was to grab a round flat-shaped brush and use your hand to place the product.
Make a line between your ears and your lips using your fingertips.
“Put the chisel bristle horizontally on the spot where you made the line.
“Keep the brush close to your cheeks, not your lips. You want the bronzer to go up and away from your eyes.

Ely explained that the technique, when used with precision and using the right techniques and brushes, can make a huge difference to the appearance of your skin.
To help blend the contours, rotate the brush vertically. Then use any product that is still on the bristles to push the contour outwards.
“This means you will have a soft contour without any dark or harsh lines.
Make sure to extend your contouring onto your face by adding some volume at your temples, top of the forehead and other areas. This will make it look more complete.
‘Focusing on your best features draws attention away from your imperfections, so don’t forget to enhance the areas of your face that you are most proud of.’
FEATURE – Sharp brows
MAKE-UP TRICK: For a more feminine look, emphasize the area under your brows
Ely explained that Ely focuses on improving the feminine aspects of her face. She suggests lifting your eyebrows, and enhancing your lashes.
The right shape of your brows will enhance the beauty and femininity of your face.
You can lift your eyebrows by maximizing the distance between your lashline and your brow. This is done by shaping and tidying up your brows.
“Fill in your eyebrows using an angled brush.
“Once you have a neat area, use highlighter or concealer to the underside of your brows. This will create lift.
Long lashes can make a woman look feminine.
You can do this by using lash extensions, strip lashes or thick layers of volumizing mascara.
‘Don’t forget about lower lash.
“Eyebrows” are an expressive part of the face. In fact, it’s the first communication channel through which we communicate with others.
“Brown trends have been a part of history for centuries. We have witnessed many shapes and sizes that have made eyebrows iconic over the years, adding drama and glamour to each era.
FEATURE: A large forehead
MAKE-UP TRICK: To play with the shape of your face, use a large dense brush with a contour product

Ely explained that a “big dense brush” and a “contour product” could be used to hide a large forehead.
Ely stated that a haircut can change the appearance of your face.
The role of ‘Contouring can help you avoid the need for non-invasive treatment while still concealing imperfections.
You can achieve a more defined contour look by using large dense, rounded brushes to apply product to the same areas.
It means that your cheekbones will appear lifted without the intensity of the chiseled brushes.
“Contouring doesn’t always refer to structure or definition,” she explained. This technique can also be used to accomplish the reverse!
The brightening effect of adding colour to your cheeks will give you a youthful, natural look.
FEATURE: THE THIN LIPS
MAKE-UP TRICK: Put your lipstick on the sharp end of a lip brush to overline your pout

However, the make-up artist recommended that people with smaller lips overline their features using product
Ely said: “Using your lipstick of choice, slightly overdraw your lips with the blunter end of a flat brush. Fill in the rest with the larger side.
“Matte lipsticks are better for over-lining, as they tend to not bleed into the skin around your lips.”
She continued, “Exfoliating your lips never fails.”
It helps make the lip appear larger and also helps get rid of any dead skin, which is important in order to create a longer-lasting lip product.
She added: ‘Over lining lips always work. You can use a concealer with an end of a flat lipstick brush to cover a already-lined lip.
To give your pout a plumpy, subtle look, apply a gloss in the middle of your hair rather than over it.
According to the expert, “less is more” was the best advice.
When creating fuller, more beautiful lips, subtle and small can work just as well.
For those blessed with thicker lips they may be able to exaggerate their volume using a clear gloss.
FEATURE – A big nose
MAKEUP TIP: Create the illusion that your nose is smaller by drawing shadow lines
Ely explained that after you’ve prepared your foundation and primer, you can begin with the cream contour or powder contour. Choose a shade 2 to 3 darker.
Use a small domed comb to make your nose seem slimmer. Draw shadow lines along the sides of the nasal planes using a straight line to avoid creating a concave nose.
You don’t want your brush to be too pointed as this can create very sharp lines which are difficult to blend.
Blend the color down to the edges of your nose with a brush, buffing away any obvious lines.
“Now, the centre of your nose should be highlighted and thinned.”
Continued she: “You can sweep some of the dark colour along the tips of your nose to reduce length.
A light reflective setting powder can be applied to the darker area of the skin.
“Each brush is designed to be used at each stage in the contouring process.”
