After a severe crash, a 10-year-old boy was taken to the hospital.
Police have confirmed that two other individuals, who have yet to be identified, were also taken to hospital in west and south London.
At 1.35 PM today, emergency services were dispatched to assist with a collision involving multiple vehicles. The eastbound carriageway was closed as a result.
Between junctions 4 and 3, motorists experienced severe delays in London, near Heathrow Airport.
Traffic officers from National Highways arrived on the scene, and the westbound road was closed to enable the air ambulance to land.
London Ambulance Service spokesperson said that they were called to investigate reports of an accident on the M4.
“We sent several resources, including 3 ambulances, 1 medic in a rapid response car and 1 incident response officer.
“Our crews took three patients to the hospital and treated them on-the-spot.”

Met Police spokesperson said that police were dispatched to investigate a traffic accident involving four cars near junction 3 of the M4 West Drayton.
“Officers were present with the London Ambulance Service (Lambtain Fire Brigade) and other emergency services. On the spot, London Air Ambulance arrived.
“A 10-year old girl was riding in one of these cars and has been flown by air to South London Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“The M4 was shut down in both directions for emergency response. Expect significant delays in traffic due to the closure of the eastbound side for some time.
As an air ambulance arrived at the scene of a severe crash on M4, stranded motorists were seen leaving their vehicles.
While emergency services address the situation, the eastbound carriageway was closed.

Highways England advised of delays up to an hour at busy airports.
According to the statement, there are 60 minute delays on The M4 Eastbound in Greater London (J4 and J3) due to a multi-vehicle collision that has caused the eastbound carriageway to be closed.
“Emergency services” include National Highways Traffic Officers.
“At this time, the westbound road is still blocked for air ambulance landing and has a delay of about 30 minutes.
The warning also advises motorists to follow a diversion route and not to “re-route, or delay your trip”.
For those traveling eastbound, the incident caused additional delays on M25.
Photographs from the scene reveal at least four ambulances were present, as well as firefighters, officers and Highways England personnel.
Highways England’s diversion route states: “Road users should follow the solid circle symbol for diversion on signs.
Take the M4 exit at J4 to take the third exit on the M4 Heathrow Spur Road. Take the A4 sliproad exit at the roundabout and merge with the A4 Bath Road.
Continue on to A312. Rejoin the A4 at J3.
