Another senior Labour MP told the Daily Mail: ‘I just think it’s ridiculous he’s been given a knighthood – he’s an untried war criminal.’
YouGov conducted a survey on January 4, which found that 63% of Brits don’t approve of knighthood, while only 14% agree.
The survey found that 31% of respondents strongly supported the honor being awarded to former Prime Minister, while 11% tend to agree.
22% disapprove of others, while 41% disapprove strongly and 22% don’t know.
Mark Thompson – whose son Kevin, 21, was killed by an IED near Basra in southern Iraq in 2007 – is among those planning to return their medals.
He said, “If Tony Blair is knighted, I will return the medal of my son.” ‘I spoke to over ten families, who were all willing to give their medals back. There may be hundreds of people who are willing to join us. They all feel the same way – they are all fuming. This is so absurd.
A possible protest against the capital has been planned by Mr Thompson, a Lancaster-based coach driver.

“It is a very personal decision for every bereaved family. While my son merits this medal, I’m interested in how Blair’s knighthood plays out before making my final decision.
Hazel Hunt (62), from Abergavenny in South Wales is considering making the move. Her son Richard (21 years old) was killed in an explosion in Afghanistan’s Helmand in 2009. He was patrolling with the Royal Welsh Regiment.
Mrs Hunt stated that she was a staunch monarchist throughout her life. However, I am seriously considering sending back the Elizabeth Cross to Her Majesty in protest at this decision. We lost a family member forever, along with 456 families who were involved in the Afghan war and 179 of those from the Iraqi campaign.

LBC was informed by another ex-soldier, Steve. He said that he would remove a tattoo depicting the Queen from his arm “immediately” to make way for the knighthood. He said to the radio station, “She should be condemning his actions and not condoning them.”
Sir Ed Davey, Liberal Democrat leader, warned against Sir Tony’s knighthood being criticized as ‘disrespectful to the Queen’.
Sir Ed said that if the Queen wanted to knight any politician, or anyone out of politics, she should. I worry about disrespectful people who are not respectful of Her Majesty.
Sir Tony refused to comment on the row when approached at his £7million central London mews house yesterday.
The Mail asked him questions about the response to the petition. He seemed exasperated, and then he shut the door on his own home.
