Which party is responsible for the Tory Party’s listing as it heads toward the political rock? Yesterday, Jeremy Hunt was the new Chancellor and insisted Liz Truss, the beleaguered, was still on the bridge.
It’s not easy to see how he will finish the job of ending her brave attempt to create a different economic pathway for Britain.
In an effort to bring stability back to financial markets Mr Hunt has abandoned her low-tax and high-growth plan. He does not have the mandate to lead Britain. He was voted out with just 18 votes.
One Tory MP denounced Miss Truss’s plan as “libertarian Jihadism”. Hardly. The state never has spent more than necessary to bail out the oil and gas industry. The state isn’t going to let the market dictate how it reduces its tax burden.

Which party is responsible for the Tory Party’s listing as it heads towards the political rock? Yesterday’s Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt insisted that Liz Truss, beleaguered by the Tory Party, was still in control of the ship.
Three backbenchers are calling for her resignation, while her Tory foes exploit the economic crisis to her demise. Also, Cabinet ministers have been spotted putting on a show.
They must show unity and purpose, no matter what happens in the week ahead. Millions who struggle with skyrocketing household costs will not be forgiven by the Tories’ infighting.
They are misguided if they believe voters will accept their party’s installation of another PM in the absence of a general election. With Labour 25 points ahead, the Tories must work out what they want – and fast.
It seems that the current answer is: to sit on the benches of the opposition.
Met: A force to be bad
At the Metropolitan Police, scandalous acts of violence have become almost routine.
No one could have been more horrified by Baroness Casey’s report on malignancy infecting Scotland Yard.
Once a shining example of professionalism in policing, the force is now a shameful sewer.
This thin line of blue is supposed to protect law and order. However, Sir Mark Rowley is the Met’s new commissioner and says it is rife with hundreds of employees who must be fired.

At the Metropolitan Police, scandalous incidents have become almost routine that they are no longer shocking.
Some people remain with the organization despite being charged with domestic violence and sexual assault. When it comes to racism or sexism, “anything goes”. But, a stale disciplinary system makes wrongdoers virtually ineligible.
This is at a force that had a former officer who murdered Sarah Everard.
The public – and honest, brave officers – have been let down by a string of hapless commissioners who let dysfunctionality fester. The result has been a severe blow to the trust in police.
Sir Mark said that the shocking report made him cry. Instead, he should be allowed to dismiss the guilty, get standards in order and let decent officers focus on their jobs – cracking crime.
The shameful lies of Crown
The freedom to express one of the most important liberties that our Constitution monarchy is able to safeguard is freedom of expression.
Netflix’s The Crown stands accused of exploiting this right to concoct harmful lies about the Royal Family, then present them as entertainment – for maximum profit.
Dramatists will claim that the dramatic storylines used are an artistic license.
Many viewers will see the new series, and they’ll believe that Charles, Prince of Wales, planned to exile the Queen.
Netflix is likely to calculate that the death of his mother will boost its ratings.
It is unacceptable. Warnings about harmful products must be included. TV shows should make it clear that expertly produced but damaging fiction about real people is just a fantasy – not fact.
