Dan Walker shares the moment that he crashed headfirst into an opaque glass panel during training for Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC Breakfast host, 44, was left needing a brain scan at A&E after running into a revolving door at his hotel back in September.

Dan shared that his injury nearly led to him being forced to withdraw from Strictly prior to the first episode. But luckily, after three days of rest, Dan was cleared to go back to training.

Dan was seen running fast towards the door of the rotating doors after realising that his wallet had been left outside. The glass then rebounded and he fell straight to the ground.

He shared the footage on Instagram on Monday as he explained: ‘I’ve got some amazing memories from #Strictly but I’ll never forget that it nearly ended before it even began!

“This is the event that led to a September brain scan! Staff at the hotel and A&E were great & I was ok to return to training after a 3 day break.

‘I’d left my wallet in the taxi but completely ignored the massive glass panel in the way while I was running outside before the car drove off.’

Wiped out: Dan revealed that the injury almost resulted in him having to pull out of Strictly before the series had even started

Detailing his injuries, Dan continued: ‘There was an immediate cartoon bump and blood where my teeth burst my lips but thankfully it wasn’t as serious as it looked. After the scan, I was instructed to lie down.

Praising his dancer partner, he added: ‘@NadiyaBychkova was lovely & came with me to A&E but had to hide in the car park for hours because we hadn’t been announced on the launch show at this point.

‘Feels like a lifetime ago & can laugh about it now. Thanks NHS.

Dan shared the video along with a bunch of snaps that showed the bump on Dan’s head as well as his time at the hospital.

This is Dan’s first video of the incident. However, Dan did speak about it back in September.

Dan shared a masked-up selfie from A&E, as he told fans he’d been left feeling ‘a little wobbly’ in the wake of his injury,

Today’s “Bit of head-based drama!” After whacking my noggin on the big glass window yesterday I got sent to A & E today because I was feeling a little wobbly,’ he penned.

“A beautiful nurse from Barnet Hospital, Karina, checked my vitals. Erik Witt (6ft9) gave me a CT scan in order to rule out a brain bleed. Thankfully… all ok.

‘I’ve got to rest for a couple of days – so I’ll be a bit behind – but ready to dig in again next week.

‘A timely reminder of how amazing the NHS is and, even though I’m not allowed to tell you who my Strictly pro is… I can tell you that she waited for hours in the car park to make sure I was ok.

‘Whatever happens on the telly… she has a friend for life.’

Dan shared the experience with his Instagram followers via his Instagram Stories. He said, “Things that I learned yesterday…Don’t run into glass doors and don’t get a lump on your forehead.”

Under wraps: Praising his dancer partner, he added, '@NadiyaBychkova was lovely & came with me to A&E but had to hide in the car park for hours because we hadn’t been announced'

Strictly’s Saturday Night Finale saw EastEnders’ Deaf Actress Rose Ayling Ellis and Giovanni Pernice win the glitterball. They defeated John Whaite to be crowned the winner.

After Rose, aged 27, and John (32), who created the first male sex partner with Johannes Radebe in 2021, were tied for second place, the series ended with a thrilling finale. The judges gave their highest praises to both of them for their ‘groundbreaking roles’ during the contest.
