A dietitian has identified the signs and symptoms of disordered-eating that many may not be aware.
Disordered eating and eating disorders are estimated to impact 16 per cent of Australia’s population, according to Sydney dietitian Rebecca Gawthorne.
The health expert shared a reel on her Instagram, Nourish Naturally, outlining 14 ‘potential’ signs of disordered eating or an unhealthy relationship with food.
Rebecca wrote that disordered eating is a term used to describe irregular eating patterns that may or not warrant a diagnosis.

In the clip, she highlighted some warning signs of disordered food eating. This includes if you don’t think about food, if your body is obsessed with counting calories or if you feel guilty about eating ‘unhealthy’ foods.

Disordered eating can also be manifested by a ban on certain foods or food groups.
Other traits include constant dieting and ignoring hunger cues or fullness cues, fear of certain foods or ingredients, and constant dieting.
Rebecca stated that some of these traits could be part of a person’s lifestyle and diet.
She wrote that she said “potential” because not all people who show these signs have disordered eating or a poor relationship to food.
Some people like to plan their meals in advance, while others enjoy planning their next meal. Others with allergies might always need to read labels.
