The eco-zealot seen in video pouring human excrement over a memorial to pandemic hero Captain Sir Tom Moore has been arrested.

Scotland Yard announced that a 21 year-old female was detained in London on suspicion of criminal damage following an incident at Hatton Memorial, Derbyshire.

Footage of the stunt, carried out yesterday for the pressure group End UK Private Jets, shows a woman drenching the monument – which honours the 100-year-old World War Two vet who raised £33million for the NHS during lockdown – in urine and faeces.

MailOnline claims that Maddie Budd, an ex-medical student who was also a member of the group, pulled off the stunt. His father explained to MailOnline today that his son is ashamed and in shock at what he did.

Budd had been previously detained in London, September 2021 by Budd while protesting against the Extinction Rebellion with health professionals and doctors.

The vandalised memorial was in memory of Captain Sir Tom Moore, who made international headlines in 2020 when he raised money for charity in the run-up to his 100th birthday during the Covid-19 pandemic

It was created in memory of Captain Tom Moore. He made headlines when he collected money to support charity just before his 100th birthday in 2020.

Budd tried to justify her desecration of the memorial by claiming that 'every time one [private jet] takes off, it pours a bucket of sh*t and blood onto everything that Captain Tom stood for'

Budd claimed that the memorial was always in danger and she had to justify her actions. [private jet] takes off, it pours a bucket of sh*t and blood onto everything that Captain Tom stood for’

According to a spokesperson for the group, Budd was taken into custody in London as she attended a demonstration with End UK Private Jets. According to reports, she was taken out of the protest by 18 officers.

According to a spokesperson, ‘I was in London for another protest with Maddie’.

“We were moving away peacefully from all of it, and then we split up.”

She added, “I left. But she was then stopped.

She was followed by 18 police officers. According to me, these officers had been specifically sent to her.

“They were supposed to search for her in the crowd. We were fortunate to be walking in their direction.

MailOnline reached End UK Private Jets but they did not respond immediately to MailOnline’s comment request.

Budd’s father, Jim Budd, 62, said his daughter had ‘gone rogue’ after dropping out of medical school to become a full-time eco-warrior, giving up her career.

Father-of-six Mr Budd, an award-winning glazier, said he had felt sick when he saw the video of her defiling Captain Tom’s image. Budd stated that his wife Harriet Budd, 63, and he, an award-winning glazier, had sent messages to Budd following realizing what she did, but no response.

Speaking from their home near Kington on the England-Wales border, he told MailOnline close to tears: ‘The shock of this is hurting people and upsetting them.

“I am ashamed of what she did and I’m sorry for her.” For obvious reasons, there has been an overwhelming public response. She doesn’t seem to understand what she did.

She did something awful without realizing the consequences.

Jim Budd, the father of eco warrior shown on video making a protest about private jets said he was ashamed and felt sick when he saw it

Jim Budd is the father of eco warriors and was shown in video protesting private jets.

“I was shocked and sick when I first saw the picture. I sent her a message, but she did not reply.

It is not normal behavior. This is so sad. She has kind of gone mad.

Maddie studied medicine in Manchester before pursuing a future career at the NHS.

After a keen interest in the topic at an early age, she decided to give up her college career to dedicate all of her energy to climate protests.

Her father added it was ‘understandable’ for the police to investigate what he called ‘an act of desecration’.

He stated, “I can’t really make an apology on her behalf. He was clearly a national hero, and his amazing and extraordinary actions resonated throughout the country.

“We’re trying to solve the problem, but we can only do so if it involves the police.”

“How shocking are the climate change future predictions? I don’t believe it was her responsibility to destroy his memory the way that she did.

“Her motives may be real, but they are not right. She has apparently gone mad.

“When someone is young and insecure, they are able to go down paths they might not have chosen later on. People are clearly upset by this terrible thing.

It is difficult to believe that young people could feel so endangered by climate change, and be able to take extreme measures.

“But, I don’t make excuses for her. It was a horrible mistake. It was a terrible mistake that we were shocked at.

Maddie Budd believes Maddie should join a recognized climate change action group, rather than performing desecration-like acts alone.

He stated that young people feel depressed and his daughter felt more so than others. She was ill-judged and horrible. This is something that every parent should experience.

My wife is very upset. “My daughter quit her job to be a protestor full-time because she felt that way. This took a while to get here.

She stated that her intention was to raise awareness about this crisis at a time when no other person seems to be doing it.

“But, this specific action was counterproductive. It has only upset many people. She is a shameful person and I am ashamed of what she did.

Video of the stunt has been passed to Derbyshire Police by the company who made the memorial, AGC Fabrications.

Its managing director Austin Cox confirmed to MailOnline this morning: ‘We are working with the police, we have got a crime reference number.

“We’re pursuing the matter and hope they will pursue it. “I can only say that I am currently pursuing it and hoping they will prosecute.

The heroic actions of Sir Captain Tom in rescuing Britain from lockdown

Sir Captain Tom Moore hoped to raise £1,000 for the NHS, but ended up capturing the hearts of the nation.

How 100 laps through his garden turned into a knighthood

April 2020 The army veteran begins fundraising in the hope of raising £1,000 for the NHS amid the coronavirus pandemic. He hopes to run 100 laps around his backyard before his 100th anniversary on April 30, 2019.

April 14, More than £2million is donated.

April 15 The total rises to £7million as more than 340,000 people show their support.

April 16  He completes his 100 laps – meaning he walked an average of six laps a day – and reveals he’s going to keep going to raise as much as possible. He was praised by the Prime Minister as well as the Royal Family.

April 24,  Sir Captain Tom is the oldest person ever to reach Number One in the Top 40 Charts with his cover of You’ll Never Walk Alone. He performs it alongside singer Michael Ball and The NHS Voices of Care Choir.

April 30 The fundraising page hits £32million on his 100th birthday. Honorary colonel is conferred on him and he can fly in the military.

July 17, The Queen awards him a knighthood in a special engagement.

September He writes bestselling autobiography Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day and signs a deal to film a biopic of his life.

October 5, Captain Tom launches a podcast about isolation in Britain for the elderly.

December  He ticks a holiday to Barbados off his bucket list.

31 January 2021 He is admitted to hospital amid an intense battle with pneumonia, his family reveal.

February 2, 2021Sir Captain Tom dies days after testing positive for coronavirus.

His tweet stated that he had previously publicly posted: “I am the person who gave the memorial to Thistley Meadow and I would like to tell you that we will pursue Maddie for vandalism.

Experts will inspect the footage and decide whether it passes a threshold of criminal damage.

Derbyshire Police said: ‘It has been reported to us that the Captain Sir Tom Moore memorial at Thistley Meadow in Hatton has been defaced. All officers have been notified and investigations are continuing.

Budd recorded herself pouring the urine and feces from the bladder over the tribute to the captain. He made headlines when he donated millions to charity during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She later submitted a bizarre video justifying her decision, declaring, “People will say that he is a hero. People are going to claim that this disrespects his life and the NHS he protected. I am in agreement.”

“I wanted to be a doctor so I was going to school. If we think that the NHS should be important and if we believe we can take care of our fellow citizens, why then are we trying to destroy our civilisation by putting our healthcare system in collapse?

‘All of this is true and the Government won’t even end UK private jets, every time one takes off, it pours a bucket of sh** and blood onto everything that Captain Tom stood for’

Captain Tom began to walk 100 lengths of his garden at the age of 99 in 2020, with the aim of raising £1,000 for NHS charities by his 100th birthday on April 30.

However, thanks to media appearances, his efforts caught the imagination of the nation and by his birthday he had raised over £30million. His death, February 2, 2021, was the result of Covid’s capture. He was an icon in national history.

The video showing Budd pouring faeces over the memorial to the beloved captain, who was awarded a flypast by the RAF and British Army on his 100th birthday and was even knighted by the Queen, has prompted predictable outrage from the public.

“How can this be used to convince people to use private planes?” One Twitter user wrote: It looks almost like a child is throwing a horrible tantrum and being extremely disrespectful. This behavior is not going to convince anybody.

Another said, “Hope that she is sentenced to prison for her actions.” This is not a way I can help your cause. This is disgraceful. You should not be supporting this.

One third of the participants raised doubts about Budd’s decision to stop being a medical student.

Are you a former medical student? Where is she now? Is that too embarrassing for you to publish?

One person who claims they gifted the memorial stated that they were going to pursue Budd for vandalism.

We will collaborate with police to achieve this goal as best as we can.

According to Budd’s Facebook Page, she was protesting against Extinction Rebellion with medical professionals in London last September.

Emissions from flights are known to be significantly worse than any other form of transport, and private jets generally produce significantly more emissions per passenger than commercial flights.

Many celebrities have been pulled up for their private jet use, with one of Kylie Jenner’s flights reportedly lasting an offensively short 17 minutes.

Her 17 minute jaunt is expected to have produced a lot of carbon dioxide.

It is only a quarter, however, of global carbon emissions.

During the COP26 Climate Change Summit in Glasgow, last year there were 76 flights involving VIP or private jets that arrived in Glasgow over the four days preceding the 1 November.
