Netflix’s The streaming giant has made The Crown a big-budget drama about royals. But are its increasingly controversial plotlines creating casting problems?
It was advertising for an actor to portray a teenage Prince William last Friday, even though the scenes are scheduled to be shot this month.
Because it involves William’s reaction after his mother Princess Diana’s divorce to Prince Charles, the role will be contentious.

The series will also show how Martin Bashir, the BBC’s disgraced journalist, convinced Diana to film her explosive Panorama interview.
The Duke of Cambridge asked for the interview to be rescheduled.
A source told me that ‘a lot of parents would think twice about letting their son star in such a drama.’ It’s going to be a very difficult role that will provoke a lot of backlash.

Netflix stated that they were looking for a boy between 13 and 15, to play Prince William, 13 years old, in its next series. This boy must be talented, intelligent, and sensitive and can take on the role of this iconic character alongside some of the best British actors.
Timothee Sambor previously played the role. Dominic West will play Charles, to Elizabeth Debicki’s Diana.
A Netflix spokesperson stated that they are “well into the process” and that all is well. Casting children takes more time in general.
WHY MILLEN HAS ZERO DESIGNS FOR MARRIAGE
Karen Millen, the design queen, has made it clear that she will never get married to Ben Charnaud, her long-term boyfriend.
She tells me, “We’ve been together ten year but we won’t get marital,” at a Mayfair party.
‘I commit to someone and that’s it — I don’t have to prove it. Most people I know who are married are now divorcing.

“I have never put a ring on it and I don’t intend to do so now.”
Gyles Brandreth, Royal biographer, amused guests at Petworth Literary Fest in West Sussex with his favorite anecdote on Prince Philip.
A courtier was alarmed that the Queen and Philip were forced by a Royal Variety Performance to witness The Full Monty striptease.
The Duke of Edinburgh gave a bow to the naked actors and said, ‘You don’t need to worry. She’s been to Papua New Guinea — she’s seen it all before.’

Repeated references to racing manager Harry Herbert — the new husband of TV chef Clodagh McKenna — as being a godson of the Queen have raised eyebrows among his friends and family.
Particularly since the claim appeared on Herbert’s website, H Talent Management.
Herbert’s spokesperson clarified that Herbert is not a Godson of HM the Queen when I brought this up. But his brother Geordie [the Earl of]Carnarvon is her godson.
A spokesperson added that Harry has no connection whatsoever to H Talent Management and that they are trying to get in touch with them to remove all information about him from their website.
ONLY FOOLS & TRACEY SAY NO to DEL BOY
Tracey Emin says that her greatest regret was turning down an opportunity to make a cameo in Only Fools and Horses.
“Me and my mum were sitting on a bench in Margate eating jellied eels when the scout came and asked if we would like to be extras,” the Turner Prize-winning artist said.
“How deranged was my life?”Tracey Emin (pictured on September 2019), reveals that her greatest regret is not being allowed to appear in Only Fools And Horses.
Emin turned down the offer as she felt too good to be an extra in Fools And Horses. How deranged was my mind?
Viewers were no doubt deprived of a classic episode in which Del Boy turns his hand to modern art and seeks to emulate Emin’s sale of her unmade bed for £2.5 million.
When in Rome… I hear Boris and Carrie enjoyed a romantic dinner away from the hubbub of the G20 summit — and rounded off their pasta meal at a restaurant with a digestif called Apolide, which translates to ‘stateless person’.
A spokesperson for the restaurant said that the Prime Minister cannot have escaped the subtle irony associated to the wine’s name.
