BREAKING NEWS! Emergency crews rush to the scene of a gas explosion at a Portsmouth house

  • Just before 2pm, police and fire crews were called to Nelson Avenue in Hampshire.  
  • Firefighters from Emsworth, Southsea and Southsea are on the scene
  • The area is being advised to be avoided by pedestrians and road users.










According to reports, emergency crews raced to the scene after a gas explosion at a Portsmouth home.

Just before 2pm on Friday, firefighters and police were called to Nelson Avenue in Hampshire.

It is being asked that pedestrians and motorcyclists avoid the area. 

Portsmouth Police released the following statement: “We are currently at scene of fire at an address at Nelson Avenue.” 

“We urge pedestrians and road users to avoid this area.” 

‘We will update you as soon as we have more information – many thanks all for your co-operation.’

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service stated that firefighters from Southsea Fire and Rescue Service, Emsworth, Cosham, Portchester and Southsea were on the scene in Nelson Avenue in Portsmouth. 

‘Please do not enter the area for our crews to work.
