She is currently subject to a 10-day isolation, and will be back next Sunday. This would thwart any attempts to present a satellite presentation to an athlete, who has a strong chance of winning SPOTY out of the six athletes announced Monday.
“I really wanted to play in Abu Dhabi in front of my fans, but after I tested positive for COVID-19, unfortunately, I have to delay until the next opportunity,” said the Kent teenager, 19 years old. He reportedly only has mild symptoms.
“I’m Isolating per Rules and will hopefully be able To Get Back on Court Soon.”
Raducanu, who is currently in Abu Dhabi, isolates for 10 consecutive days. This covers the SPOTY Ceremony
Raducanu will be following in the footsteps of Andy Murray, who is the record-breaking three-time SPOTY winner.
Two times, he received the trophy over video link while training in Miami.
To prepare for the beginning of the Australian season, US Open champion will be flying to Australia in December.
