Police Scotland is being criticized for saying that it will record all rapes perpetrated by male offenders using male genitalia if the victim identifies herself as a woman.
Feminists warn that the ‘absurd proposal’ will “warp” rape statistics, and could threaten women’s safety by understating male violence.

These comments are a reference to George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. It is dystopian fiction about a dictatorship that inverts truths to control its subjects.

After Kenny MacAskill, former SNP justice secretary and defector from the party, asked Police Scotland about how they would handle rapes in accordance with the SNP’s Gender Recognition Act. This will allow people to identify themselves as any sex they like.

Former Holyrood Justice Secretary, Mr MacAskill called it ‘absurd. On Sunday, he told the Scottish Sun that as a former Justice Secretary and lawyer for over 20 years, he’d seen some absurd legalities.
“But this is the best and most dangerous.” It is impossible to physically do and is a matter of dogma outriding commonsense.
