However, this study shows that the environment can influence someone’s propensity of stealing their partner.

According to the study, those who felt there were no suitable partners started worrying more about being single. 

The study, published in Journal of Sex Research, revealed that they felt more rivalry with their own sex and were therefore open to the possibility of taking someone else’s partner.

According to Nipissing University of Canada, the researchers concluded that poaching is a common mate strategy when ecological conditions are not favorable.
