At his Paris campaign rally today, the far-Right flamebrand who hoped to be France’s next President was attacked.
Eric Zemmour (63), was held in headlock by an unknown assailant while he walked in the Zenith district in northern Paris.
An eyewitness said that the attacker reached out and grabbed Mr Zemmour by his neck.
Source said that Mr Zemmour had bodyguards at his disposal and moved to pull the attacker away.

The violent incident – which was filmed and the video published on Twitter – was reported to police and said to be ‘under investigation,’ according to Mr Zemmour’s aids.
He meanwhile announced that he was launching a new party called Re-Conquest (Reconquête), which would fight to ‘Save France’ its current decline.
This was after eight victims of Mr Zemmour’s sexual abuse were reported by them in the same week he declared his candidacy for head of state.

They include Aurore Van Opstal, a 31-year-old Belgian writer, who claims she was assaulted by Zemmour in a Paris café two years ago.
Gaëlle Lenfant, a 55-year-old councillor from the French city of Aix-en-Provence, claims in a YouTube video that she was attacked by Zemmour as early as 2004.
Zemmour is a single father to three and expecting his love child. His 28-year old campaign manager has also denied wrongdoing.

However, a 20-year-old press officer requested anonymity to protect her legal rights. She claimed that Zemmour texted her the following: “So I’ll wait for you to invite me into my home to rape YOU!”
Mediapart, a French investigative news website, published eight accounts from Zemmour’s alleged victim of sexual abuse. They also have evidence to support their claims.
This week’s evidence was presented to Mr Zemmour and his campaign aides.
Both Paris Police and Paris Prosecutors spokesmen said that they are not able to talk about any criminal allegations against Mr Zemmour.
Closer Magazine published details about Mr Zemmour’s secret relationship with Sarah Knafo (28), two weeks before Mr Zemmour lost a court battle to stop Closer from publishing the information.

Both Mr Zemmour and Ms Knafo had complained about ‘an invasion of privacy’, while Mr Zemmour’s 62-year-old lawyer wife, Mylène Chichportich, has yet to comment on the scandal.
In Paris, Zemmour was arrested earlier this month for calling child migrants “thieves rapists murderers”
The verdict on the case for “complicity of inciting racial hatred” and “racial insult” is expected to be in January.
Zemmour was a television pundit and a print journalist. He has been convicted of similar offenses twice. But he is still ranked high in opinion polls.
