Harris and Ali make great actors, and while the film’s sci-fi component is well done, it is still distinctly downbeat due to the nature of the topic matter. Apple TV+ starting on Friday

Brexit: The Uncivil War 

This is a wonderful one-off drama that was first broadcast on Channel 4 in 2019. In it, Benedict Cumberbatch portrays Dominic Cummings as a political strategist.

The trio of rascally petrolheads, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, is back to share their opinions on French car culture.

They’re setting off on a road trip that begins in the Welsh hills before heading out across the English Channel. The group will take to the skies in propeller-powered automobiles, ride on a helicopter and enjoy a grand finale with a medieval theme.

Although the first episodes were a bit stale due to cut-throat deals and dialogue, the series has the most engaging TV dialog when members of the dysfunctional media dynasty begin to attack each other.

The Heights 

Adapted from the hit Lin-Manuel Miranda (who also wrote Hamilton) stage musical, this film follows life in a Dominican community in Washington Heights, New York that’s threatened by gentrification. 

It’s exuberant and uplifting, an old-fashioned song-and-dance show – light on story, heavy on tunes and dance routines. Sky/NOW, starting Friday

This five-parter is about a 19th century whaling expedition to Arctic. The atmospheric thickening of the atmosphere in Arctic has been disturbing.

It stars Stephen Graham, Jack O’Connell and Colin Farrell as the terrifying, psychopathic harpoonist Henry Drax.

He is a man who is rarely happier than when standing on a whale’s back and forcing his spear into the beast’s heart while gently whispering sweet nothings to it. BBC iPlayer, available now
