One hunting dog attacked a cat and then tossed her corpse into the garden of a neighbor.
Mini, a fourteen-year-old rescue kitten, sustained a broken back as well as broken ribs during the mauling. After the mauling, Mini was thrown over a hedge by a huntsman.
Carly Jose (40), Mini’s owner, has called for a ban on all hunting in public places.
A petition she began advocating ‘Mini’s Law’ – to prohibit any activity involving hunting hounds taking place in a residential or public place – has gained 100,000 signatures, meaning it will be considered for debate in Parliament.
Madron mother of three, Miss Jose from Madron in Cornwall said that her children were ‘heartbroken by Mini’s March killing. The huntsman’s behavior was described as ‘evil’ by Miss Jose at that time.
Western Hunt’s spokesperson stated that the incidents occurred ‘incredibly rarely’. The Western Hunt apologized.

The police opened an investigation. John Sampson, the hunt master, was found guilty by Truro Magistrates Court last Friday for being responsible of at least one dangerously out-of-control dog in public. Sampson of St Buryan Penzance did not deny the killings but pleaded guilty.
He was fined £480 and ordered to pay £350 compensation to Miss Jose, £775 court costs and a £48 victim surcharge. According to Miss Jose, the verdict was landmark as she believes no huntmaster has ever been convicted of killing a Dangerous Dogs Act victim.
Prosecutor Chris Rendell said that on the day of the attack, Sampson, his son Edward and Edward’s girlfriend – who were all on horseback – had taken 21 dogs out for exercise.
A total of six dogs ran off and entered the cul-de–sac to pursue, capture and kill Mini.

Peter Nicholls, Resident of the Court said that he was on his bed and heard an “almighty rumble” like a group of elephants.
He said this after recalling the things he’d seen:[Edward]The whip was in his hands and I could see the dog’s nose fall off the cat. He ran. He grabbed the body of the cat from the street and flipped it into my yard.
Charlie Knight (a neighbour) said that he filmed the scene and saw the hounds chase the cat. The cat tried to leap a fence in order to escape, but was eventually mauled.
Miss Jose, a special needs teacher assistant said the incident had’majorly’ affected her family. “Mini was part our family,” she said. They were reckless and she died. We are really happy with this sentence. They believed they were able to get away with this, but they didn’t.
Sampson was not allowed to testify at the sentencing hearing. The magistrates stated that they considered it an isolated incident, and no complaints had ever been made against the dogs.
